What should children eat if they are iron deficient?

In life, we all know that iron is an essential trace element for the baby's growth and development. If the baby lacks iron, it will lead to poor appetite, poor nutrient absorption, and unstable sleep. Generally speaking, if the baby is iron deficient, it can be adjusted through daily diet. Give the baby high-iron foods in the daily diet to supplement the iron element. If the baby gets less from the food, iron supplements can be taken under the guidance of a doctor. First, animal liver is rich in various nutrients and is the preferred food for preventing iron deficiency anemia. Every 100 grams of pork liver contains 25 mg of iron, and is also easily absorbed by the human body. The liver can be processed into various forms of children's food, such as liver puree, which is easy for babies to eat.

Second, although the iron absorption rate of egg yolk is only 3%, the egg raw materials are easy to obtain, easy to eat and preserve, and it is also rich in other nutrients, so it is still a good iron supplement food.

Third, the utilization rate of iron in animal blood such as pig blood, chicken blood, and duck blood is 12%. If you pay attention to cleanliness and hygiene and process it into blood tofu, it is a cheap and convenient food for preventing iron deficiency anemia in children.

Fourth, the human body absorption rate of soybeans and their products is 7%, which is much higher than the iron absorption rate in rice and noodles.

Fifth, the iron content of fungus and mushrooms is very high, especially fungus. Since ancient times, people have regarded it as a good blood tonic. In addition, aquatic products such as kelp and seaweed are also good foods for preventing and treating iron deficiency anemia in children.

Common symptoms of iron deficiency in infants include pale complexion, less smiling, loss of appetite, mental fatigue, etc. Pale complexion is mostly caused by anemia. Mothers can observe whether their baby's lips, eyelids, and palms are pale. The baby's expression is closely related to the content of many nutrients in the body. Babies who are iron-deficient rarely smile. Since iron-containing hemoglobin is an oxygen carrier, iron deficiency can easily lead to insufficient oxygen supply, which in turn affects the body's immunity.

Symptoms of iron deficiency in infants can be reflected in the following aspects

1. Mother can observe. The baby's skin and mucous membranes gradually become pale or yellow, most obviously on the lips, oral mucosa and nail beds. They are prone to fatigue, irritability, crying or lack of energy, lack of activity and loss of appetite. Older babies may complain of dizziness, black spots in front of their eyes, tinnitus, etc.

2. It can be checked by a doctor. Anemia means a decrease in the number of red blood cells or a decrease in the amount of hemoglobin. Check whether the baby is anemic. Only blood tests can reflect the baby's true condition. Due to the imperfect hematopoietic system in infancy, short-term self-limiting physiological anemia will occur. The hemoglobin content will drop to 110g/L at 2 to 3 months, but it will gradually return to normal after 3 months. The gold standard for diagnosis varies with the age of the baby.

3. Age Hemoglobin Content (Hb)

Neonatal Hb < 145 g/L

Hb < 90 g/L at 1 to 4 months of age

4 to 6 months Hb < 100 g/L

6 months to 6 years old Hb < 110/L

If the baby's blood sugar is below the standard, anemia can be diagnosed based on the risk factors for anemia (such as premature birth) and the baby's daily performance.
