We all know that the connection channel between the baby and the mother is the umbilical cord. When giving birth, the baby and the mother are separated, that is, the umbilical cord is cut off. After the umbilical cord is cut off, it is necessary to take care of the other end of the umbilical cord because it is connected to the baby's belly button. Generally, the thread end is tied up and the other end falls off naturally. However, many mothers do not understand how long it takes for the umbilical cord to fall off naturally. So how can the umbilical cord fall off quickly if it does not fall off? 1. Clean the navel every day. For newborn babies, there are often secretions in the navel. When the secretions dry, the navel and the root of the umbilical cord will adhere to each other, which is not easy to clean, and pus may appear in the navel. Therefore, you should thoroughly clean the navel. The specific method is to dip a cotton swab in 75% alcohol every day, gently lift the ligature of the umbilical cord with one hand, and use the alcohol swab with the other hand to carefully wipe the navel and the root of the umbilical cord so that the umbilical cord is no longer adhered to the navel. Then, use a new alcohol swab to wipe in circles from the center of the navel outward. After cleaning, don't forget to disinfect the ligature with alcohol;2 Keep the navel dry. Before the baby's umbilical cord falls off or just falls off and the navel socket is not dry yet, make sure the umbilical cord and the navel socket are dry, because the umbilical cord that is about to fall off is a necrotic tissue and can easily be infected with bacteria. Therefore, once the umbilical cord is soaked with water or urine, it should be immediately wiped dry with a dry cotton ball or clean soft gauze, and then disinfected with an alcohol swab. Your baby should not be bathed in a tub until the umbilical cord falls off. You can take a bath in sections, wash the upper body first, dry it, and then wash the lower body; 3. Do not let diapers or clothes rub against the umbilical cord stump. When the umbilical cord has not fallen off or has just fallen off, avoid irritation of the baby's navel with clothes and diapers. You can turn down the upper end of the diaper to reduce the friction of the diaper on the umbilical cord stump.4 If the umbilical cord does not fall off, generally, the baby's umbilical cord will slowly turn black and hard, and fall off in 1 to 2 weeks. If the baby's umbilical cord still has not fallen off after 2 weeks, you should observe the condition of the umbilical cord carefully. As long as there are no signs of infection, no redness, swelling or pus, and no large amount of fluid oozing from the umbilical cord, there is no need to worry. In addition, you can use alcohol to wipe the baby's navel to keep the umbilical cord stump dry, accelerate the shedding of the umbilical cord stump and the healing of the navel; 5 If there is secretion from the umbilical cord, the healing umbilical cord stump will often exude clear or yellowish viscous liquid. This is the liquid exuding from the healing umbilical cord stump, which is a normal phenomenon. After the umbilical cord falls off naturally, the navel will be a little damp, and a small amount of rice-soup-like liquid will seep out. This is because the surface of the umbilical cord that has fallen off has not yet fully grown, and the liquid in the granulation tissue has seeped out. Just wipe it clean gently with 75% alcohol. Generally, 1 to 2 times a day is enough, and the navel will become dry after 2 to 3 days. Gently wiping the umbilical cord stump with dry gauze can also speed up the healing of the belly button. If the discharge from the belly button is pus-like or has a foul odor, it means that the belly button may be infected and you should take your baby to the hospital. 6 If the umbilical cord turns red, the belly button will be formed once the umbilical cord stump falls off. During the process of the umbilical cord stump falling off, slight redness often appears around the belly button. This is a normal phenomenon in the process of the umbilical cord stump falling off, so there is no need to worry. However, if the belly button and surrounding skin become very red, and the skin feels hot to the touch, it is likely that the belly button is infected, and the baby should be taken to the hospital for diagnosis and treatment in time.Precautions Be sure to pay attention to the environmental hygiene of the newborn's room, keep it ventilated and dry, and prevent the growth and spread of bacteria. |
