We all know that the baby's skin is particularly delicate and sensitive. Any improper care in daily life will cause some problems with the baby's skin. Among them, baby pityriasis alba is the most common skin problem in life. The appearance of such symptoms makes many parents particularly worried, always afraid that it will affect the baby's health. So let us understand together what to do if the baby has pityriasis alba? This disease, also known as simple pityriasis or dry pityriasis facialis, is a chronic skin disease of unknown cause, manifested by hypopigmented macules with blurred edges, and histopathology shows a decrease in melanocytes. More likely to occur in people with darker skin or atopic diathesis pathology Histopathological findings showed subacute spongiform dermatitis with decreased melanocytes in the epidermis. Clinical manifestations It is common in children and young adults, and is more common in those with darker skin. Typical skin lesions are round or oval reddish spots with blurred edges, 0.5 to 2.0 cm or larger in diameter. After a few weeks, the pale red spots gradually turn into pale white spots, covered with a small amount of bran-like scales. The number of lesions varies, mainly on the face and occasionally on other parts of the body. No subjective symptoms, or there may be itching or burning sensation. The course of the disease varies in length, worsening in summer, but it can all resolve naturally. Differential Diagnosis It needs to be differentiated from vitiligo, tinea versicolor, psoriatic leukoplakia, sarcoidosis or mycosis fungoides. Treatment of baby's pityriasis alba: There is no specific treatment. Applying moisturizer, 5% sulfur ointment or weak corticosteroid cream can be used externally, but the effect of hormones is usually not better than moisturizer. Taking vitamin B complex orally may also be beneficial. Light therapy has little effect. After understanding what to do about baby's pityriasis alba, you must seek timely treatment when such symptoms appear. Don't always think that it is no big deal and it will get better on its own in a couple of days. In fact, this idea is incorrect and is irresponsible to the baby's health. In daily life, we must pay more attention to the baby's physical health problems and don't always let the baby's skin be too dry. |
