Best treatment for baby eczema

Best treatment for baby eczema

Many mothers are afraid that their babies will catch a cold when taking care of them, so they like to cover their babies tightly. As a result, the babies often sweat and develop eczema. Eczema is the most common skin disease among newborns. If the eczema is mild, it usually heals without special treatment. However, if the eczema is severe, attention should be paid to treatment.

However, when treating baby eczema, because the skin of newborn babies is very sensitive, many ointments used by adults may not be suitable for babies. Therefore, it is recommended that mothers must find the best treatment for baby eczema to treat their babies.

(I) External treatment prescriptions

Boil the Chinese medicine Qinglicao in water to extract the juice, and use it to scrub the affected area 3 times a day. The effect will be seen in a few days. This method is simple and easy, has no side effects, and is especially effective for children's eczema.

(II) Application of drugs containing corticosteroids

It can be chosen for mild or small-scale eczema; for large-area eczema or recurring eczema, if corticosteroid-containing drugs are used frequently, in large quantities, or for a long time, there will be systemic and local skin side effects. Not to mention the systemic side effects, the local skin side effects remind us to choose carefully.

The most prominent local skin side effects of corticosteroids are drug-dependent dermatitis and rebound dermatitis, so try to avoid long-term or short-term use of high-dose topical corticosteroids.

(III) Others

(1) Antihistamines or sedatives can be taken to relieve itching and assist in anti-allergy.

(2) Avoid re-irritation. Common exogenous re-irritation includes scratching, rubbing, washing with soap, scalding with hot water, improper use of medication, etc. Never wash seborrheic eczema with soap and water. Just apply some vegetable oil frequently to gradually soften the scab and then remove it.

(3) Use of antibiotics If a baby with eczema develops fever, worsening skin redness and swelling, discharge of yellow purulent secretions, or swollen lymph nodes, this indicates that the baby's eczema has become infected and the baby should not take antibiotics on his own. He should choose antibiotics under the guidance of a doctor.

(4) Special types of pinworm eczema require treatment of pinworm disease in addition to local treatment. Most drugs to remove pinworms are not allowed to be taken by children under 2 years old, so the only way to remove pinworms is to pay attention to hygiene. Fortunately, the lifespan of pinworms is only 20 to 30 days. Parents only need to boil the baby's clothes, bed sheets, etc. with boiling water every day for one month, thoroughly disinfect the toys, wash the baby's hands frequently, and keep the hands away from the mouth, so as to cut off the route of pinworms.

The above are all treatments for eczema. You can choose the best treatment for baby eczema according to your baby’s condition. In fact, neonatal eczema can be prevented. As long as the mother takes good care of the baby, the occurrence of eczema can be avoided. According to the latest scientific research, breastfeeding babies are more likely to reduce the occurrence of eczema.
