Why can't children eat scallops?

For adults, eating some scallops properly is very good for the body. It tastes delicious and has high nutritional value. However, it is generally not recommended for children to eat scallops. This is mainly because some substances in scallops can easily cause adverse reactions to children's stomachs. Children are not suitable for eating scallops at this age. In addition, if you have gout, you should not eat scallops. Let’s take a look at this aspect.

1. Why can't children eat scallops?

Children and gout patients should not eat it. The reason is that the monosodium glutamate contained in scallops can be decomposed into glutamate and tyrosine, which are converted into toxic and harmful substances under the action of intestinal bacteria, interfering with the normal metabolism of brain nerve cells.

Scallops are rich in protein and iodine, which can lower high blood pressure and nourish the kidneys. It is edible for general population. Especially suitable for patients with weak spleen and stomach, insufficient qi, malnutrition, long-term illness, deficiency of the five internal organs, spleen and kidney yang deficiency, frequent urination in the elderly, hyperlipidemia, arteriosclerosis, coronary heart disease, loss of appetite, indigestion, various pain syndromes, after radiotherapy and chemotherapy, and suitable for people with yin deficiency such as diabetes, lupus irradiata, Sjögren's syndrome, etc.

2. Pharmacological effects of dried scallops

1. Anti-tumor effect

Local injection of 20 mg/kg of the heart and liver of the grain protein portion of the Japanese scallop into the S180 sarcoma in mice showed a 99.3% tumor inhibition rate after 3 days; 20 mg/kg was injected intravenously for 2 days, and the tumor inhibition rate reached 79.6%; it had a cytotoxic effect on L57-178Y lymphocytes; 4-20 mg/kg was injected intravenously into mice for 4 days, and the activity of the two types of macrophages in the peritoneum and alveolar was the greatest; but it had almost no inhibitory effect on Meth-A fibroma. After Japan injected scallop ligament extract into mouse tumor cells for 5 weeks, the tumors completely disappeared.

2. Growth-promoting effect

The dried product of Chlamys farreri was fed to weaned rats in the form of feed for 28 days (the feed contained 10% of the protein), and the body weight increase rate was 224.60% compared with the control group. Metabolic experiments have shown that the protein in scallops is easy to digest, absorb and store.

3. Other functions

A mixture of troponin-I was isolated from the striated muscle of the Japanese scallop (C. nipponensis akaxara Kwoda), which has an inhibitory effect on ATPase.

4. Toxicity

The shells of the noble scallop (C. nobilis) contain highly toxic paralytic substances, the content of which is generally less than 4mu/g and the highest content is up to 11mu/g.
