What to do if your baby has an irritating cough

Irritating cough is a general term for coughs, such as coughing due to cold air, and coughing caused by pharyngitis. Coughing is caused by irritation. Most of these patients should wear masks when going out and do some corresponding preventive work. In addition, you should also be careful not to use medicine casually. You must first diagnose the condition clearly and then give your baby medicine.

Detailed explanation/irritating cough

Most irritant coughs are allergic coughs. If it is accompanied by sneezing, runny nose, itchy nose and itchy and watery eyes, it is definitely an allergic cough caused by allergic rhinitis. It is called allergic rhinitis or allergic rhinitis asthma syndrome.

If the cough is paroxysmal and dry, not accompanied by fever, fear of cold air and smoke, a slightly itchy throat, and occasional wheezing, it may be an allergic cough, also called cough variant asthma or allergic bronchitis.

If the condition is accompanied by symptoms of allergic rhinitis such as sneezing and runny nose, it is definitely not ordinary bronchitis, and misdiagnosis will lead to incorrect treatment. It's painful and hard, and the money is wasted with serious side effects.

Symptoms/irritating cough

Pharyngitis cough is an irritating dry cough with little or no phlegm. Older children may feel that there is something in their throat that they cannot spit out or swallow. The throat itches before coughing and there is an obvious foreign body irritation, followed by paroxysmal coughing, which is more severe in the morning or before going to bed at night. The condition worsens with every cold and the throat often makes a "gnawing" sound or a single cough. During an acute attack, severe coughing may cause nausea and vomiting, which stimulates the pharyngeal nerve and causes reflex vomiting. Drinking water at this time will provide temporary relief.

Treatment/irritant cough

There is no specific treatment for chronic pharyngitis. Generally, you can use Sterculia lychnophora, Polygonatum odoratum, Ophiopogon japonicus, Adenophora radix, Green fruit, and Jade Butterfly, soak them in water in appropriate amounts and drink them as tea, which has a certain therapeutic effect. In the acute phase, antibiotics are used and Chinese medicine is added, such as Coral Grass lozenges, Watermelon Frost lozenges, Jinshengzi throat treasures, Liushen Pills, etc., or Xiaoer Yanbian Granules and Huang's Xiangsheng Pills are taken orally, and combined with certain Western cough suppressants, the condition can be cured or relieved. Make sure your diet is light and avoid spicy or greasy food.
