How to develop children's brain?

How to develop children's brain?

Nowadays, many pregnant women will conduct prenatal education in the late stages of pregnancy. The purpose is to allow the child to accept things in the outside world as soon as possible. After the child is born, parents will use various methods to let the child learn more and help the child develop his brain. This approach is correct, and there are indeed some methods that have this effect. So the question is, how to develop children's brains?

1. Encourage children to ask questions

The child often interrupts the mother when she is telling a story and asks “why”, which sometimes makes the mother very annoyed: “Don’t interrupt when mom is telling a story!” As a result, the child has many questions, becomes less and less interested, and gradually stops paying attention to what the mother says. The mother felt very frustrated. She had wasted a lot of time talking, but the child didn't listen much. In the end, when you asked him what he had said, he couldn't say anything. It was obvious that he didn't listen carefully!

In fact, mothers should change this storytelling format of "I speak and you listen, I ask and you answer". They should know that in the storytelling process, they are not the main body but only a guide. If you only care about instilling a certain truth into your child, or only care about how much of the story your child remembers, without taking into account the child's needs or answering his or her questions, the child will not be able to better understand and appreciate the story due to his or her cognitive deficiencies.

Therefore, parents should promptly answer children's questions during the storytelling process, or ask children if there is anything they don't understand after telling a story. Parents should also guide and encourage children to ask questions after telling the entire story. Only by discussing and answering questions around the story in this way can children deeply understand the content of the story, listen to the story carefully, and think hard about the problems.

2. Ask your child to retell the story

After parents finish telling a story, ask their children to retell it. This is very helpful for children to understand the content of the story, become familiar with the plot, pronunciation and wording, and exercise their memory and attention.

When children retell stories, we can correct their incorrect pronunciation and promote them to speak good Mandarin. It can also help children develop good language habits. For example, some children always like to use the same word "finished" or "afterwards" when they speak, and some children like to touch their noses or pull their clothes while speaking. In response to such situations, we should fully express our affirmation and appreciation for the children and let them speak loudly, coherently and generously.

3. Encourage children to make up stories

"Making up" stories is not nonsense, but a process of exploration, imagination and creation. If children love to "make up" stories, they tend to have quick thinking, strong oral expression skills and rich imagination, and they will be able to become a person who is good at expressing themselves when they grow up. Usually, you can encourage children to make up their own stories. After they have a general outline of the story, start with words such as "One day", and then describe the chronological order of the plot sentence by sentence. You can use "then...afterwards...finally" to connect the whole story. As for the ending of the story, you can let your children use divergent thinking to think of many possibilities and exercise their imagination.

The above aspects are issues regarding storytelling methods that parents need to pay attention to. It is also important to note that older children will ask their parents to buy some storybooks according to their needs, and the children's wishes should be respected at this time. Try to let your children try to read various types of stories, and never limit their reading range because of your own preferences.

Young children have a habit of liking to listen to repetitive stories, which is determined by the age characteristics of the children. Children at this age have limited cognitive abilities, and only through constant repetition can they discover and experience new things. Therefore, parents should not think that telling a story over and over again is boring and uninteresting. In fact, these repetitions have an inestimable role in the intellectual development of children.
