Emergency treatment for children's skin cuts

Emergency treatment for children's skin cuts

In people's daily lives, there are always some unexpected situations that cause physical injuries. Especially children who are lively by nature are more prone to physical injuries and bumps. Skin breaks are the most common one. Once this happens, it must be dealt with in a timely manner to avoid inflammation of the wound. So, what is the emergency method for children who have their skin broken?

First, what is the emergency method for children's skin breaks? For shallow wounds with small areas, clean the wound with wet tissues or clean water, disinfect the skin around the wound with iodine or alcohol, then apply a layer of topical anti-inflammatory ointment, and then apply a Band-Aid or bandage with sterilized gauze. If the abrasion is large and there is dirt on the wound that cannot be cleaned off by yourself, if the injured area is swollen, severely painful, or the injury is in a vital position, seek medical attention immediately. If the wound is large and deep, the baby should be taken to the surgery department in time for local debridement and tetanus injection.

Second, cuts most commonly occur on the hands. The first treatment is to stop the bleeding with local direct pressure or pinching the sides of the fingers to stop the bleeding. Begin by applying firm but gentle pressure to the wound with a clean gauze or towel for at least 5 minutes. After the bleeding stops, clean the wound with light salt water and soap, disinfect the skin around the wound with 75% alcohol or iodine, cover it with sterile gauze or a Band-Aid, and finally fix it with a bandage. If it is a facial wound or a wound that is more than 1 cm wide, the child should be taken to the hospital as soon as possible for suture treatment. Do not use alcohol or hydrogen peroxide to irritate the wound, and do not use antibiotic ointment on the incision surface to prevent scarring or worsening of the wound.

What is the emergency method when a child's skin is broken? Treat the wound urgently, squeeze the wound, and let a little blood flow out. At the same time, the bacteria will be wiped away. No matter how small the wound is, there is a risk of tetanus infection. Be sure to seek medical attention in time and get a tetanus shot. If foreign objects such as wood thorns and bamboo thorns are retained under the skin, you can put a piece of ice to numb the skin, then use the needle in the sterilizer to gently pry open the skin and use sterilized tweezers to remove the foreign object. If glass fragments or iron breaks are stuck in the wound, the baby should stop the activity immediately and be rushed to the hospital for surgery. Immediately apply firm pressure with your palm for 5 minutes. The area of pressure should be larger than the injured area. If bruising occurs, apply crushed ice or cold water for better pressure effect. Within 24 hours, apply cold compress for 20 minutes, stop for 20 minutes, and repeat for 2 to 3 hours; after 24 hours, you can apply warm water to the affected area. If the injured part is the arm or leg, raising the affected area appropriately will also help reduce swelling.
