Is herpetic pharyngitis hand, foot and mouth disease?

The issue that parents are most worried about now is the health of their babies, especially the physical constitution of children. Their resistance is relatively low, so they often encounter some diseases in life, especially inflammation problems. Many children will have fever or respiratory infections due to hand, foot and mouth disease, and may even have herpetic pharyngitis. Although it is not that serious, it will endanger their health and have a certain impact on the body. It is recommended that parents pay attention to this aspect.

symptom

Herpetic pharyngitis is a special type of upper respiratory tract infection. Because its initial symptoms are not much different from those of the common cold, it is easily misunderstood as a common cold and treatment is delayed. Some patients have no other symptoms. There are many causes of herpetic pharyngitis in children, mainly due to hot weather and poor indoor air circulation, which causes bacteria and viruses in the indoor air to multiply rapidly and enter the children's respiratory tract to cause the disease. These viruses are mainly coxsackievirus, herpesvirus and echovirus, as well as concurrent bacterial infections.

It is characterized by herpetic ulcerative mucosal lesions. It is common in infants and young children. The clinical features are sudden high fever accompanied by sore throat, headache, anorexia, and often pain in the neck, abdomen and limbs. Vomiting and convulsions often occur in infants. Within 2 days of onset, a small number (rarely more than 12) of small (1-2mm in diameter) gray-white blisters appear on the oral mucosa, surrounded by red halos. They are mostly seen in the front of the tonsils, but can also be located on the soft palate, tonsils, uvula, tongue, etc. Within the next 24 hours, the blisters rupture and become shallow ulcers, generally less than 5mm in diameter, and heal within 1-5 days. Complications are rare: symptoms generally disappear within 7 days. After infection, lasting immunity can be produced, but other viruses in group A or other enteroviruses may also cause recurrence.

Treatment

The way to relieve discomfort is to pay attention to oral hygiene and keep your mouth clean. Drink more water and eat light food. It is best to eat slightly thinner white porridge for a few days to help swallowing. You can gargle with light salt water, apply 10% silver nitrate to the ulcer, or blow throat pills, Bingpengsan, etc. into the throat to relieve sore throat symptoms. Take vitamin C and B orally. Antibiotics are not effective for viral pharyngitis. However, if fever occurs, antibiotics should be given to control secondary bacterial infection.

Recommended reference medication: Ribavirin, Xikelao, Qingkailing, and Yanban Granules are antibiotics, antipyretics, analgesics, and throat clearing drugs.

Pay attention to personal and indoor hygiene, and try not to go to noisy public places. However, it must be noted that this disease has an acute onset, and the body temperature rises rapidly after the disease occurs, which can easily lead to high fever convulsions. If the patient has convulsions, you can pinch the patient's Ren Zhong acupoint while rushing to the hospital. At the same time, you should prevent the patient from biting his tongue during convulsions.
