Two and a half year old baby has diarrhea

Generally speaking, babies under two and a half years old are most likely to suffer from diarrhea. At this time, their gastrointestinal tract is still very fragile, and their digestive function is not so perfect. If they eat some food that they should not eat or unclean food, it will cause diarrhea. Then they should be treated in the early stage, otherwise it will directly lead to some more serious complications.

Summer is the peak season for gastrointestinal diseases. Children are more likely to suffer from gastrointestinal diseases, the most common of which is diarrhea. The disease has a rapid onset and is accompanied by symptoms such as fever, vomiting, and pain. Don’t think that summer diarrhea is a minor problem, and don’t be careless about it. The complications of diarrhea include:

Some diarrhea in acute viral myocarditis is caused by viruses, such as rotavirus, influenza virus, etc., which are cardiotropic viruses. They directly cause blood supply disorders to myocardial cells, leading to myocardial degeneration, and also affect the pericardium and endocardium. If they invade the cardiac pacemaker system, it will be life-threatening. Medically known as viral myocarditis, it is one of the most dangerous complications of diarrhea.

Anemia can be caused by digestion and absorption disorders, which reduce the absorption of protein and other hematopoietic raw materials. Babies may have symptoms of anemia such as pale nails, palms, skin, lips, and conjunctiva, fatigue, dizziness, tinnitus, inattention, and even malnutrition-related edema.

Dehydration caused by diarrhea will cause a large amount of water loss, which will put the body in a state of dehydration, resulting in reduced blood volume, increased blood viscosity, slow blood flow, and easy formation of blood clots and blockage of blood vessels. Sodium, potassium, calcium, and magnesium can maintain the acid-base balance of the blood, nerve conduction function, and heart rhythm. The lack of these cations during diarrhea can cause serious heart rhythm disorders, which is more detrimental to the elderly with cardiovascular diseases.

When malnutrition and diarrhea occur, the body's absorption of nutrients is severely impaired and energy supply is insufficient, causing people to feel dizzy, dry mouth, fatigue in the limbs, palpitations and shortness of breath, and even show signs of malnutrition.

Autumn diarrhea in children can be transmitted through fecal-oral transmission and can also cause illness through respiratory tract infection. The onset is acute, often accompanied by fever, cough and runny nose. Vomiting and watery stools occur at the beginning of the disease. The bowel movements are frequent, large in volume, and contain a lot of water. The stools are yellow, watery or egg-drop-like, often accompanied by dehydration and acidosis. This disease is a self-limiting disease with a general course of 3 to 8 days. Most patients can recover quickly if treated promptly.
