How to treat synovitis in a two-year-old baby

Many people may not know the cause of synovitis, let alone the treatment of synovitis. Therefore, when a two-year-old baby develops synovitis, it is best to treat it in time. The treatment of synovitis mainly uses antibiotics and hot compresses to relieve the condition, reduce swelling of the knee joint, and ensure smooth blood circulation in the blood vessels within the synovium.

Synovitis of the knee is a sterile inflammation caused by knee sprains and various intra-articular injuries. Abnormal function of the synovium will lead to the inability to produce and absorb joint fluid normally, resulting in effusion in the knee joint. Changes in the morphology of the synovium can also invade the knee cartilage. If not treated in time, it can lead to osteoarthritis of the knee, which poses a great risk of disability.

Causes

1. In young and middle-aged people, it is mostly caused by acute trauma and chronic injury. Acute trauma includes: knee sprain, meniscus injury, collateral ligament or cruciate ligament injury, joint effusion or sometimes blood accumulation, manifested as acute traumatic synovitis of the knee.

2. Synovitis is common in the elderly, mainly due to mechanical and biochemical stimulation caused by cartilage degeneration and bone hyperplasia, which leads to synovial edema, exudation and effusion.

3. Sometimes it may be caused by simple synovial injury of the knee joint or long-term chronic knee strain, which can cause gradual swelling and dysfunction of the knee joint, and then form chronic knee synovitis.

4. Infection, among which synovial tuberculosis infection is the most common. Generally speaking, the synovium is rich in blood vessels, has good blood circulation, and has strong resistance to bacteria. However, when infected with tuberculosis bacteria, the disease progresses slowly and its symptoms vary from time to time.

Condition Analysis: Synovitis is generally treated with the following treatments:

1. Systemic therapy: The cause should be treated. If it is caused by systemic infectious diseases or lesion infections, sulfonamides or antibiotics should be given, and hormones should be used when necessary, and possible primary lesions should be removed at the same time. Those with tuberculosis need to use anti-tuberculosis drugs; those with syphilis need to undergo anti-syphilis treatment.

2. Local therapy: hot compress can be applied during the inflammatory stage; incision and drainage can be performed for suppuration; for tuberculosis, the rotten bone and necrotic tissue should be scraped off after incision, and streptomycin should be injected.

3. Traditional Chinese Medicine: Treatment is based on the principle of syndrome differentiation and treatment. Those with severe heat toxicity should clear away heat and detoxify, and the prescription is Wuye Qingdu Yin combined with Huanglian Jiedu Decoction; those with confirmed deficiency and cold should replenish deficiency and dispel cold, and the prescription is Yanghe Decoction; those with yin deficiency and internal heat should nourish heat and clear away heat, and the prescription is Qinggu San; those with both qi and blood deficiency should replenish qi and nourish blood, and the prescription is Bazhen Decoction.
