Does my baby need to get Category II vaccines?

Does my baby need to get Category II vaccines?

The so-called Class II vaccines are also vaccines that babies can be vaccinated with. The reason for the distinction between categories is that Class I vaccines are those that the state requires parents to vaccinate their children with, and they are almost all free, while Class II vaccines have a certain degree of selectivity, and parents can choose based on actual conditions. Of course, most of them are charged. This makes many parents worry, do babies need to get the second-category vaccine?

Category II vaccines are unimportant vaccines? NO!

Class I and Class II vaccines are a classification of vaccines in our country, and the key criteria for distinction lie in "money" and "compulsory".

Category 1 vaccines are those that the state pays for free and are required. If your child is not vaccinated, he or she may not be able to attend kindergarten. This type of vaccine includes: BCG vaccine, hepatitis B vaccine, polio vaccine, diphtheria, pertussis and tetanus vaccine, measles, mumps and rubella vaccine, hepatitis A vaccine, meningococcal vaccine, pertussis and tetanus vaccine and Japanese encephalitis vaccine, etc. You need to pay for the second type of vaccine yourself, and you can choose to take it or not, it is entirely voluntary.

However, the classification of Class I and Class II vaccines may vary in each city, which is related to the local financial situation and vaccine planning. For example, in some places children can get flu vaccines for free, while in other places they have to pay for it.

Classification of Class II vaccines

Class II vaccines can be divided into several different types according to their effects:

1. Replace some Class I vaccines

Inactivated hepatitis A vaccine: It can replace the live attenuated hepatitis A vaccine. Some places have changed the inactivated hepatitis A vaccine into a Class I vaccine.

Inactivated polio vaccine: It can replace the live attenuated polio vaccine. Since May 1, 2016, my country has changed the first dose of polio vaccine from attenuated to inactivated. That is to say, babies can receive a round of inactivated polio vaccine for free.

A+C meningococcal polysaccharide conjugate vaccine: can replace group A meningococcal polysaccharide vaccine.

ACYW135 group meningococcal polysaccharide vaccine: can replace group A+C meningococcal polysaccharide vaccine.

2. As an effective supplement to a type of vaccine

Haemophilus influenzae type b vaccine (Hib): can prevent meningitis, pneumonia, etc. caused by Hib.

Varicella live attenuated vaccine: can prevent chickenpox.

Rotavirus live vaccine: It can prevent severe diarrhea caused by rotavirus. Although the rotavirus live vaccine cannot 100% prevent the baby from being attacked by rotavirus, vaccination with rotavirus vaccine can greatly alleviate the condition.

Pneumonia vaccine: prevents pneumonia caused by pneumococcus, etc.

Flu vaccine: To prevent the flu, you need to get vaccinated every year because the flu outbreaks may be different every year.

3. Reduce the number of vaccinations

Triple vaccine: AC meningococcal conjugate vaccine + Hib vaccine.

Quadruple vaccine: diphtheria, pertussis and tetanus + Hib vaccine.

Pentavalent vaccine: polio vaccine + diphtheria, pertussis and tetanus vaccine.
