Because children have very low body resistance and immunity, once they are infected by bacteria or fungi, they will develop various disease problems. Urticaria is a common disease among children. When children reach a certain age, they need to be injected with needles to prevent urticaria. However, since each child develops differently, some parents may not give their children such injections, which may increase the chance of causing urticaria. What are the symptoms of urticaria in children? Urticaria in children, commonly known as wheals, is a common allergic skin disease, which is mainly manifested by erythema and edema reactions of varying sizes on the skin, often accompanied by itching. The basic lesions are temporary dilation of capillaries in the skin and mucous membranes and a sudden increase in permeability. Most of the diseases are caused by allergic reactions, and the acute cases usually have a good prognosis. There are many causes of urticaria. Bacteria, viruses, parasites can all become allergens. Pollen, dust, chemicals, and even some foods can become allergens. The typical symptoms of this disease are erythema and wheal. In typical cases, after contact with allergens, erythema appears first, followed by wheals. Wheals may appear in the center of the erythema and spread to the surrounding areas. Pathological symptoms Acute urticaria in children develops suddenly, and the skin may become abnormally itchy within an instant. With the itching and scratching, red or pale wheals of varying sizes and shapes quickly appear; some are ring-shaped, and some may merge into large pieces. They disappear quickly within 10 minutes to a few hours, leaving no trace. The location of the rash is irregular. For example, if you scratch the child's normal skin with a needle, red bumps consistent with the scratches may appear. Most children have no other discomfort except for severe itching of the skin; a few children have internal organs affected and experience fever, headache, shortness of breath, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain and other discomforts; in severe cases, there are symptoms of shock such as pale complexion, difficulty breathing, and low blood pressure. Most urticaria episodes in children are transient. It is also related to the immune mechanism. Some children will recover on their own after suffering from urticaria, but some will persist for a long time. For these children, they should actively go to the hospital for treatment and check the existing causes in detail. Contact urticaria is more common in people who are allergic to latex. According to a survey of 2062 employees in a hospital, 12% of them were allergic to latex. 60-80% of contact urticaria in this type of people occurs on the hands. Since the talcum powder on the gloves contains latex particles, inhalation may cause nasal allergies and asthma attacks. People who are allergic to latex are usually also highly allergic to pollen, dust and animal dander. Urticaria in children is associated with a variety of allergens. After anti-allergic treatment, the rash of most patients with acute urticaria in children can quickly subside, but a small number of patients have repeated attacks and cannot be cured for a long time, which is called chronic intractable urticaria. This type of urticaria is often difficult to treat because the cause of the allergic reaction cannot be found. |
