The child had a fever of 39 degrees after vaccination

Children are the apple of their parents' eyes. Any problem of a child will be magnified by his parents. For some young children, vaccinations are an essential part of daily life. Instead, it reduces the possibility of contracting certain diseases by injecting some vaccines. Usually, people's bodies will not have any reaction after receiving the vaccine. Some children had a fever of up to 39 degrees after receiving the vaccination. How did this happen, and what caused it?

What should I do if I develop a fever after vaccination?

1. Stay calm! Stay calm! Which mother wouldn’t be anxious when seeing her baby has a fever? At this time, tell yourself that you must not panic. If you are a mother who is confused, how can you fight?

2. Don’t take your baby to the hospital as soon as he or she has a fever. When your baby just starts to have a fever, there is no need to rush to the hospital. Not only will it be stressful for the child, but it may not be possible to immediately confirm the diagnosis even if you send him to the hospital for examination. If the child's mental state is not affected and the body temperature exceeds 38.5 degrees, the child can take medication as required and be observed and treated at home for the time being.

3. After the baby receives the vaccination, it may cause local or systemic reactions of varying degrees, among which fever is the most common. However, the observation period for vaccination is 72 hours. If it exceeds that period, it is no longer caused by the vaccine and parents should seek medical attention as soon as possible.

4. For children with fever, whether taking medicine or other cooling methods, they will eventually need to dissipate heat through physiological processes such as urination, defecation, and sweating. Therefore, it is necessary for babies to drink water or milk multiple times when they have a fever.

5. When the baby has a fever, let him rest more. You can use warm water to bathe him. Soak a soft towel in 20℃-30℃ cold water, squeeze it slightly to prevent dripping, fold it and place it on the forehead. Change it every 3-5 minutes.

Which vaccines are likely to cause fever?

From the actual situation, after the baby's vaccination, the vaccine with the highest fever rate is: diphtheria, pertussis and tetanus vaccine, followed by measles (including leprosy, measles-mumps-rubella vaccine) and influenza vaccine. The relatively lowest is the hepatitis B vaccine.

Because each baby's physical condition is different, the reaction to minor infection after vaccination may be mild or severe. Mild reactions such as low fever after vaccination generally do not last too long and are transient, so parents do not need to be overly nervous.

(1) If the body temperature is ≤37.5℃, the child should be carefully observed, drink plenty of water and rest, use physical cooling methods, and wipe with a warm towel (it is not recommended to wipe with alcohol, as parents generally do not know how to dilute the alcohol).

(2) If the body temperature is >37.5℃ or ≤37.5℃ and is accompanied by other systemic symptoms, abnormal crying, etc., you should go to the hospital for diagnosis and treatment in time (antipyretics can be used under the guidance of a doctor, which will not affect the effectiveness of vaccination)

It is normal for babies to have a fever after vaccination. However, parents also need to pay attention to it. After the baby has been vaccinated, there are many precautions that everyone must not ignore. After all, the baby's body is relatively fragile in all aspects! Only the most meticulous care can give the baby the best care!
