Baby blinks hard

If you find that your baby is always blinking hard, you should pay attention to observe. If there are no other symptoms, do not treat it, because frequent blinking does not cause much damage to the eyes. You can also find ways to divert your baby's attention, so the effect will be relatively better. The most important thing is to ensure that your baby's daily routine is normal.

Drug treatment: For keratitis and conjunctivitis, the doctor will instruct the patient to flush the secretions with normal saline or 3% boric acid solution, and apply topical antibiotic eye drops such as 0.25% chloramphenicol or 0.1% rifampicin eye drops. For those infected with viruses, give herpes eye drops or cyclosporine eye drops. For severe cases, systemic supportive therapy with oral antibiotics is given. Symptomatic treatment of inverted eyelashes, styes or chalazions.

Psychological treatment: Frequent blinking has no adverse effects on the eyes themselves, so parents do not need to be too nervous or worried, and should not put pressure on their children by verbal abuse. They should focus on psychological treatment and mainly use benign induction. Once blinking occurs, parents can ignore it and let it happen naturally, or they can arrange appropriate entertainment activities to divert the child's attention. When the cause is unknown, parents should not use medication blindly. Usually, we should arrange a reasonable diet for children, limit the time they watch TV, ensure they get enough sleep, and ensure a regular life.

Health check-up: In addition to general items, it may also include stool examination for parasites (if positive, deworming treatment can be performed); if conditions permit, mydriasis refraction can be performed to timely understand the child's refractive status. Those with low vision and refractive errors should correct them in time. Individuals with severe or prolonged blinking, or accompanied by systemic abnormalities, should seek treatment from pediatrics or neurology departments, or consult a psychologist.

The symptom of frequent blinking can be considered as a feedback defense action caused by visual hyperexcitation. Secondly, facing the fluorescent screen at close range for a long time creates a strong contrast between the flickering screen image and the dark environment of the room, which increases the burden on eye adjustment. Studies have confirmed that watching TV for 30 to 50 minutes has no obvious effect on children's eyesight, but if it continues for more than 2 hours, it can cause more than 60% of children to suffer from varying degrees of vision loss and a significant increase in visual fatigue. Repeatedly doing this can cause damage to vision. At this time, children may pause for a moment to adjust their eyes to the viewing experience.
