How to train a two-year-old baby to chew

Babies can learn some new skills at each stage, such as turning over, crawling, walking, learning to eat by themselves, etc. Every time the baby learns a new skill, parents will be very excited, which represents the baby's growth. Many young people cannot always accompany their babies due to work reasons. In order to let the elderly understand how to train a two-year-old baby to chew, young people can first understand the specific methods and then teach them.

1. How to train children's chewing ability?

Although babies know how to suck milk as soon as they are born, the chewing ability is not innate and needs to be trained and cultivated. The focus of training is different at each stage.

4-6 months:

During this stage, children basically swallow their food whole. Sometimes they even retch while swallowing. This is because their tongue thrust reflex has not completely disappeared. Slowly add rice flour paste to help them adapt to complementary foods and coordinate their swallowing ability.

7-9 months:

When the child is 6-8 months old, he may use his tongue to crush food, and gradually he will use his gums to chew food. The food is generally in a semi-liquid and semi-solid state: vegetable puree, fruit puree, porridge, etc.

At this time, teeth begin to erupt, and you can also give your child teething sticks/teething biscuits. First, it can relieve the discomfort of teething, second, it can stimulate the gums to help the deciduous teeth erupt, and third, it can exercise the child's chewing ability.

10-12 months:

At this time, the baby has 8 teeth. When eating, he will try to use his front teeth and central incisors to crush the food and chew it simply.

The complementary food at this stage gradually approaches adult food, and is in the form of semi-solid and softer food, such as soft noodles, vegetable porridge, meat porridge, meat puree, steamed eggs, boiled vegetables, etc.

You can try to let your child eat by himself and give him a set of small bowls and spoons to experience the joy of eating.

12 months and above:

After December, children can slowly start to eat adult food and learn to chew food like their parents. In order to take into account the fact that children's gastrointestinal function and chewing ability are not very complete, the food at this time can be small pieces of meat and fruit, slightly hard biscuits, small pieces of cooked vegetables, etc.

As the teeth erupt, the child's chewing ability will improve, and he or she will basically be able to chew everything by himself or herself. However, children should not be allowed to be lazy in the later stages. Chewing more will make their teeth stronger.
