Newborn baby's head is big

Newborn baby's head is big

I believe that many parents have encountered such a situation in life, that is, some newborns have a relatively large back of the head. This situation usually occurs due to calcium deficiency in children, but other reasons are certainly not ruled out. If you find that the newborn has a big problem with the back of the head due to sleeping posture, just correct the sleeping posture. But if it is not, we need to pay attention to it and not let it develop. So what should we do if the back of the newborn's head is big?

The back of a newborn's head is very large and prominent. If it is the middle part of the back of the head, that is, the occipital part, it is a normal anatomical structure. It is called the external occipital protuberance in anatomy. Everyone has it, some are obvious and some are not. At the same time, as age increases, the skull will also change accordingly, so you can observe it first. Some of them are related to the child’s sleeping position, so change the sleeping position. Nutrition should be comprehensive and balanced, supplemented with cod liver oil and calcium supplements. Some of these conditions are caused by squeezing of the birth canal during delivery and can gradually improve.

The first point is that babies should get more sun exposure and outdoor activities. This is also the most important, most economical and effective point. There is a certain difference between sun exposure and outdoor activities. Outdoor activities do not necessarily mean sunbathing. Sunbathing refers to direct exposure of human skin to sunlight. Moreover, the exposure time is 0.5-1 hour per day. In winter, the parts of the body that can be exposed to sunlight include the face, hands and feet, and buttocks. Parents should decide the time and method of exposure according to the specific circumstances.

When giving your baby a sunbath, pay attention to the following points: the baby must be 3 months old before sunbathing; the sunbathing time should be gradual and extended. Mothers should not act too hastily to avoid hurting their babies; babies should not sunbathe on an empty stomach or just after eating, but should do so 1 hour after lunch; children should not sunbathe when they are sick or have severe eczema. Babies with certain chronic diseases or who are allergic to sunlight should not sunbathe. After each sunbathing, you should wipe the baby's sweat, bathe him, and change his underwear in time. It is best to replenish the baby with water in time, feed him some juice, vegetable soup, etc.; if the baby has symptoms such as excessive sweating, poor sleep, loss of appetite, fatigue, etc., you should stop sunbathing immediately and ask a doctor to check.
