How often should a newborn baby's hair be shaved?

In some rural areas of my country, there is a popular saying that when a baby is one month old, the baby's hair should be shaved, and a few clever girls must be found to shave the baby's hair, which means that the child will grow up healthily and happily in the future. In fact, there are many things to pay attention to when shaving the baby's hair, and you must be careful not to hurt the baby's scalp during the shaving process. So how long is it appropriate to shave the baby's hair?

Many young parents like to shave their baby's hair and eyebrows after the baby is one month old. They thought that doing so would make their children's hair and eyebrows grow dark and thick in the future. In fact, this practice lacks scientific basis.

Traditional Chinese medicine believes that "hair is the residue of blood." As long as you are in good health, your hair will grow fast and thickly. However, the hair of people with unhealthy bodies will grow sparsely or even fall out in clumps, and the hair will be dry, yellow and dull. In addition, the baby's skin is thin and tender, and the stratum corneum of the epidermis is not fully developed. When shaving their heads and eyebrows, babies are ignorant and active and are not easy to cooperate. It is easy to damage the skin and allow bacteria to take advantage of the opportunity to enter, causing suppurative inflammation of the skin and other infectious diseases. If bacteria invade the hair roots of the skin and cause folliculitis, it will also affect the normal growth of hair and even cause hair loss. If the eyebrows become infected or ulcerated, and scars form after the ulcer heals, you will never grow eyebrows again.

Generally speaking, a baby's eyebrows will fall off and be replaced on their own in the 3-6 months after birth as a process of metabolism. Therefore, young parents should not shave the hair or eyebrows of their one-month-old babies, as that is harmful and useless.

In some places, there is a custom that when a baby is one month old, he or she must have a "full-moon head" shaved off all the hair and even the eyebrows. It is believed that by doing this, the child's hair and eyebrows will grow black, thick and beautiful in the future.

Experts believe that there is no scientific basis for shaving the baby's hair at the full moon. Whether hair grows fast or slow, is thin or thick, and is abundant or scarce has nothing to do with whether the hair is shaved or not, but is related to the child's growth and development, nutritional status, and genetics. Babies' skin is thin, tender and has weak resistance. Shaving can easily damage the skin and cause skin infection. If bacteria invade the roots of the hair and destroy the hair follicles, not only will the hair not grow well, but it will backfire and cause hair loss. Therefore, it is better not to shave the “full moon head”. If your baby is born with thick hair and it happens to be a hot summer, it is recommended to shave the baby's hair short to prevent eczema, but shaving the head bald is not recommended. Do not shave your scalp if you already have eczema, as this will make it more susceptible to infection.

A lonely heart needs attention to comfort it, and I need attention because attention brings you and me closer.
