Newborn baby always opens his mouth to eat

For many inexperienced parents, taking care of babies is particularly difficult, especially for babies who cannot yet speak. They often do not know how to express their needs and can only respond by crying. Some parents report that their babies often open their mouths as if they want to eat. In fact, there are many reasons why babies love to open their mouths. It may be that they are too full and need to drink water, or they may be feeling uncomfortable. It is necessary to understand the baby's condition in order to take better care of the baby.

The main reasons are as follows:

1. The stomach of a newborn is relatively small.

2. The stomach of a newborn is relatively shallow.

3. The anti-vomiting nerve function of newborns is not yet perfect.

4. During the swallowing process of a newborn, a lot of gas will enter the esophagus and stomach along with the milk. These cause newborns to vomit easily;

5. When a newborn is sleeping, the stomach is compressed and deformed, and the milk will rise and cause milk overflow.

There are also some other reasons to be aware of:

1. Don’t let newborns eat too much, because they haven’t learned to control the feeling of fullness well;

2. Keep the breastfeeding or feeding time as fixed as possible, and the intervals should be roughly consistent to prevent the newborn from eating too much when the stomach is not empty;

3. Try to avoid newborns from coughing, as newborns often spit out milk when they cough;

4. When patting the baby's back while holding him upright, be careful and do it gently to prevent the newborn from breathing heavily and bringing out milk.

Parents of newborns are reminded that spitting up and regurgitating of milk does not affect their health much. What the newborn vomits out is only part of the food in the stomach. He (she) does not seem to have any reaction during and after vomiting. Unlike adults who feel very uncomfortable after vomiting, parents can rest assured about this. What parents should pay most attention to is to prevent the newborn from spitting up milk or vomiting it into the trachea, which may cause the newborn to cough violently. But the chances of this happening are slim.
