Three-year-old baby can't speak much

Three-year-old baby can't speak much

There are many three-year-old babies who can communicate with their parents normally, because their language development is relatively fast. However, some babies are slow in development and have unclear pronunciation. If the child does not have a genetic tongue-tie, the child's unclear pronunciation will improve as the child grows up. So what should we do if a three-year-old child is not very good at speaking?

A 3-year-old child cannot speak clearly. The initial estimate is that the child has delayed speech development, which may be caused by environmental and pathological factors.

(1) Environmental factors: When a family speaks to a child in a variety of dialects, for example, the child’s father speaks Mandarin, the mother speaks Shanghainese, the grandmother speaks Ningbo dialect, and the nanny speaks Sichuan dialect, then the child will feel at a loss when learning to speak. Parents communicate too little with their children. Some parents are busy with their own affairs or are taciturn and neglect verbal communication with their children. As a result, the children live in a very quiet environment from the moment they are born, have no chance to talk to adults, and their speech is delayed. Speech delays caused by environmental factors will quickly catch up to normal after improving the environment and strengthening training.

(2) Pathological factors: Some diseases, such as intellectual disability, cerebral palsy, hearing impairment, infantile autism, central nervous system damage or dysfunction, etc., can lead to speech delays, and there may also be other corresponding abnormal manifestations. Children with mild intellectual developmental delay start speaking 1 to 3 years later than normal. Take your child to the Maternal and Child Health Hospital for a check-up. For example, see if there is a possibility of congenital diseases such as cerebral palsy. And check whether the tongue, lips and other oral organs are flexible. If there is no problem, there is no need to worry. You can train your baby's language function by teaching more, listening more, etc. There are many reasons why babies speak late, such as adults seldom talk to babies, so babies rarely get the opportunity to practice speaking, which affects the baby's language development; some parents are too doting and accommodating to their babies, always satisfying their demands based on the baby's gestures and eyes, neglecting the baby's language training, causing them to gradually develop the habit of using gestures instead of speaking, thus delaying the baby's language development; in addition, long-term malnutrition, physical weakness, or poor hearing of babies may also cause delayed language development.

The child's slow language development may be caused by the monotonous living environment of an elderly person raising a child. Here are a few points:

1. Provide children with a rich living environment, especially a language environment. Parents should speak to them with expression often every day.

2. Enrich children's life experience so that they have something to say. Combine care for children's lives and their experiences with providing them with opportunities to speak and allowing them to talk while doing things.

3. Parents should consciously guide their children to observe things around them, and ask and talk while watching.

4. Encourage children to express their needs in words, find topics that children are interested in and easy to express, stimulate children's interest in speaking, and adults should listen to children attentively so that they dare to speak and can speak. Adults should use correct pronunciation to guide children to imitate and learn to speak from adults, focusing on learning their mother tongue (Mandarin) first.
