Obstructive jaundice, high urinary bile

Most newborns will have jaundice after birth. Under normal circumstances, jaundice in newborn babies will not cause any impact on the body. Parents just need to pay attention to the changes in jaundice in the baby. Of course, there are different types of neonatal jaundice. Obstructive jaundice is caused by congenital bile duct malformations in babies. When suffering from obstructive jaundice, timely examination and treatment are required.

In obstructive jaundice, the urine bilirubin is high because it combines with glucuronic acid, dissolves in water and is filtered directly from the kidneys. Very little enters the intestine and cannot be further oxidized into urobilinogen. Less is absorbed through the enterohepatic circulation. Therefore, in obstructive jaundice, the urine bilirubin increases, but the increase in urobilinogen is not obvious.

Symptoms of obstructive jaundice

The skin is dark yellow or green-brown and is often scratched because bile salts in the blood stimulate the skin nerve endings. Due to bile duct obstruction, bile cannot enter the intestines and the stool becomes lighter or clay-colored, and urobilinogen is reduced or absent. After bile duct obstruction, the intestine lacks bile acid and cholesterol

Etc., plus the deficiency of fat-soluble vitamins, can clinically manifest as steatorrhea, yellow warts on the skin, bleeding tendency, osteoporosis, etc. If neonatal obstructive jaundice is severe, it will affect the baby's future development and growth.

Obstructive jaundice diet

1. Patients with obstructive jaundice should eat at regular times and in fixed quantities, and eat small and frequent meals to reduce the burden on the gastrointestinal tract. Eat more foods containing vitamins A, C, and E, and eat more green vegetables and fruits.

2. Eat foods that have anti-cancer effects regularly, such as kale, cabbage, carrots, rapeseed, vegetable oil, fish, etc. Stick to low-fat, high-protein and easily digestible foods, such as lean meat, eggs and yogurt, fresh fruit juice and fresh vegetable juice.

3. Eat fresh food and avoid eating moldy or spoiled food. To keep bowel movements smooth, constipation patients should eat foods rich in fiber and drink some honey every day. The main foods should include: milk, eggs, soy milk, lotus root, etc.

4. Increase protein supply, which should generally account for 15% of total energy. In particular, a certain amount of high-quality protein should be ensured, such as animal egg content, soy products, etc.

5. Ensure the supply of vitamins. Vitamin B1, vitamin B2, and vitamin C play an important role in improving symptoms. In addition to choosing foods rich in these vitamins, you can also take multivitamin preparations orally.

6. Provide adequate fluids. Drinking more fruit juice, rice soup, honey water, watermelon juice, etc. can accelerate the excretion of toxins and ensure the normal metabolic function of the liver. What to eat for jaundice.
