Baby choking on amniotic fluid at birth

Baby choking on amniotic fluid at birth

Everyone should know that babies rely on the nutrition in amniotic fluid. However, when the baby is born, there is a possibility that he or she may choke on amniotic fluid. Choking on amniotic fluid is quite dangerous. If the baby chokes on amniotic fluid, it will leave sequelae. The baby may choke on amniotic fluid because the pregnant woman does not pay attention to her diet, etc. The pregnant woman needs to go to the hospital for examination.

The importance of a pregnant woman's amniotic fluid to the baby is self-evident, but some babies may choke on amniotic fluid, especially at birth. What should you do if the baby chokes on amniotic fluid at birth? It is very important to receive active and regular treatment as soon as possible. In order to reduce the occurrence of newborns choking on amniotic fluid, some relevant precautions need to be taken, such as pregnant women paying attention to their diet, regular prenatal check-ups, and going to a regular hospital for delivery.

The reason why newborns are prone to choking on amniotic fluid is that the fetus is wrapped in amniotic fluid in the mother's body, and there is amniotic fluid in its mouth and nose, so it cannot breathe. When it is born, its mouth needs to open to cry, so the amniotic fluid in its mouth and nose can easily choke the throat and cause coughing. If the child exerts too much force, the amniotic fluid may directly enter the lungs and cause neonatal aspiration pneumonia. Another reason is that if the mother has uterine contractions or low blood pressure stimulation during pregnancy, and the pregnancy lasts too long, the fetus can easily suffer from hypoxia and inhale amniotic fluid.

When it is discovered that the baby has choked on amniotic fluid, it is imperative to provide treatment immediately and place the baby in an incubator. Check the lung CT to see if the baby has inhaled amniotic fluid, give intravenous anti-inflammatory treatment, and observe carefully. The baby can be discharged from the hospital only after he has fully recovered.

In order to reduce the occurrence of newborns choking on amniotic fluid, expectant mothers should undergo regular examinations to check the indicators of the placenta and amniotic fluid, eat a reasonable diet, and control the amniotic fluid within a certain range.

During the delivery process, you must obey the doctor's instructions, use appropriate force, and do not let the delivery process take too long. In addition, you must choose a professional and formal hospital and ask an experienced doctor to help with the delivery.

When feeding your baby, try to let the baby lie on his side, and be careful not to feed too fast. If the child's expression is abnormal or he is always coughing, you should also pay attention.
