What to eat if children are deficient in vitamin D

Although many infants and young children have supplemented calcium, their physical development is not conducive to their lack of vitamin D. For example, irritability, night terrors, hyperactivity, "O-legs" and so on in infants and young children may be related to vitamin D deficiency. In short, once infants and young children have vitamin D deficiency, they should eat foods such as egg yolks and animal livers that help supplement vitamin D.

When infants and young children lack vitamin D, calcium metabolism is seriously affected. In the early stage, the main manifestations are non-specific neuropsychiatric symptoms, such as sweating, night terrors, irritability, etc. In severe cases, bone changes may occur, such as late teething, delayed closure of fontanelles, soft cranial sutures, square skull, "ping-pong ball feeling" when pressing the occipital bone, "beaded" ribs on the chest, rib margin eversion, "pigeon chest", scoliosis, hunchback, etc., "bracelet" and "anklet" changes in the limbs, X-legs, O-legs and other changes. The disease develops slowly and is easy to be ignored. Once obvious symptoms appear, the body's resistance will be reduced and it is easy to develop complications such as pneumonia and diarrhea.

1. Eat more foods rich in vitamin D, such as animal liver, egg yolk, etc.

2. Cod liver oil, cheese, nuts, seafood and fortified foods with added vitamin D are also rich in vitamin D.

3. Strengthen care, provide reasonable feeding, supply rich nutrition, and add complementary foods rich in vitamin D in time. Increase outdoor activities and go out for more walks and sun bask in the sun.

4. Since it is a supplement of vitamin D, calcium supplements are naturally indispensable, and dairy products are the best source of calcium. When giving calcium supplements, be careful to choose calcium supplements that are high in calcium content and have little irritation to the gastrointestinal tract.

5. You can add appropriate amounts of soy products, seaweed and green leafy vegetables to your diet.

It is important to supplement your baby with vitamin D, but mothers must avoid giving their children repeated supplements. When giving babies oral VD preparations for a long time, avoid duplication with VD-fortified foods. Supplement calcium scientifically and rationally. When choosing calcium supplements, you should also consider your baby's physique and avoid blindly following the trend.
