How to clean your baby's ears

The ears of babies are very delicate, but they will also grow earwax, so you need to be very careful when cleaning your baby's ears, and you also need to pay attention to the method. When cleaning your baby's ears, there are certain differences in the methods for cleaning the outer ear and the inner ear. You should also pay attention to the baby's reaction when cleaning your baby's ears. If the mother feels that she can't do it well, she should take the baby to the hospital for cleaning.

To clean the outer ear, use a damp cotton pad to wipe the outside of Yiyi's ear, wring out the moisture from the cotton pad and use it to wipe the back of the ear and the ear groove, then use a cotton swab specially designed for babies to wipe it again to absorb the dirt.

When cleaning the ear hole with a cotton swab, the mother can let the baby lie on her thigh on the side, hold the baby's head with her left hand to prevent the baby from moving around, and then use the cotton swab to gently clean the area around the ear hole, but do not reach inside. The distance between your hand and the cotton swab tip should be 1.5cm.

Earplugs stick out: Before the baby goes to bed, give her 1-2 drops of ear drops. When dropping the drops, you should let the baby lie on the bed or hold her on your knees with her head turned sideways. After the drops of the drops, let the child maintain this position for 2 minutes to allow the earwax to be fully diluted. Put an earplug made of a sterilized cotton ball in the baby's ear. Remove the earplugs the next day. Earwax may stick to them and be removed from the ear canal. To avoid water entering the ears, press the baby's ears from back to front and close to the face when bathing him/her, which will prevent water from entering the ears. You can also plug the baby's ears with cotton to prevent this. It is especially easy for water to enter the baby's ears when bathing or washing the baby's hair. Special attention should be paid to not let too much water enter the baby's ear canal. If water is found, it should be diluted with a cotton swab in time. Once water got into Yiyi's ear, I used a hair dryer to gently blew at the ear a few times, because severe water in the ear will affect hearing. Observe your child. If your child feels ear pain but the symptoms do not seem to be caused by water in the ear, you should take your child to the hospital for diagnosis as soon as possible. Note: Baby's earwax can be discharged on its own, so do not clean it unless absolutely necessary.
