Some of the diseases of adults can be observed through feces, and parents can also understand the physical condition of their baby from the color of their baby's poop. When the baby is just born, the stool is dark green or dark green. Mom and dad must not be surprised by this, as this is a normal color. The color of the baby's stool will change to golden yellow after eating breast milk. If the baby eats milk powder, the color of the stool will be light golden yellow.
1. When the baby is just born: dark green or dark green Generally speaking, babies will actively defecate within 12 hours after birth, but premature babies are an exception. Because their gastrointestinal function is relatively poor, they will usually defecate a little later than normal fetuses. At this time, the baby's stool is relatively thick and sticky, but has no odor and is generally dark green in color. Mothers don’t need to worry, this is actually a normal color, because the feces discharged at this time are mainly composed of amniotic fluid, shed tissues or cells inhaled by the baby in the womb. In addition, the baby's bowel movement condition will not last forever. If the feeding conditions are good, the baby will have normal bowel movements in about 3 days.
After the baby has gone through the above stages, his stool will also change accordingly: the color will transition from green to yellow-green and finally to golden yellow; the shape will change from sticky to thin paste, and some may be accompanied by particles, but overall it is relatively uniform. This is because the breast milk that the baby eats contains a substance that can stimulate intestinal peristalsis - oligosaccharide. Therefore, the baby's feces at this stage will not be very hard and there will be no foam, but it can smell sour and rotten. The baby will have more bowel movements a day, and four or five times a day is relatively normal. 3. When the baby is eating formula milk: earthy yellow or golden yellow If the baby is feeding on formula milk, the color of the stool will be lighter than golden yellow, mostly khaki, or even green. Mothers should not worry. Many milk powders on the market are added with a large amount of iron to ensure that children can absorb it. If the child cannot fully absorb it, the iron will be excreted, causing the stool to turn green. Color change is one of the signs. Mothers can also observe that the baby's stool begins to take shape - paste-like. At the same time, the baby's bowel movements are not as frequent.
When the baby is no longer solely dependent on breast milk or formula, that is, when he starts to eat other foods, the baby's stool color will become dark, somewhat similar to that of adults, and sometimes even related to the color of the food. |
