What causes children to have frequent headaches?

In life, many parents will enroll their children in various cram schools in order to give them a head start, forcing them to study. In fact, this will cast a shadow on the growth of children and affect their intellectual development. Even if they eat certain brain-boosting foods to promote development, it will not work, and may even cause children to have frequent headaches. So what causes children to have frequent headaches?

There are many causes of headaches and the severity of the pain varies. The most important thing is to distinguish which types of headaches in children will pass quickly and which types of headaches require medical treatment.

Most headaches occur outside the skull and affect the nerves, blood vessels, and muscles of the head or neck. These muscles or blood vessels may be swollen, tightened, or stimulated in some way, putting pressure on the nerves, which then send pain messages to the brain, causing a headache.

Causes of headaches Generally speaking, many of the reasons why children experience headaches are the same as those for adults, but some are hereditary, so if you and your spouse both have hereditary headaches, your children will also have them. Common causes of headaches include:

Certain medical conditions Lack of sleep or a sudden change in sleep habits Missing meals Dehydration Stress Minor head injury Too much time in front of the computer or TV Changes in hormone levels Long car rides

· Hearing loud music · Smoking · Smelling strong odors, such as perfume · Drinking too much caffeine

Sometimes, headaches are caused by certain inflammations, such as otitis media, influenza, arthritis, urinary tract infection, etc. But most headaches do not indicate a major problem; only 10% are caused by disease or inflammation.

It's easy for parents to worry if their child has a headache. But in fact, most headaches do not mean that the child has a serious illness. However, if your child has the following symptoms, you should consult a doctor immediately to find out the cause:

Observe whether the child still has persistent headaches and needs to be taken to the hospital for examination. There are many causes of headaches, including colds, rhinitis, otitis media, hypertension, central nervous system infections and other diseases.

Headache refers to pain in the area above the eye sockets and occipital area. This is one of the common symptoms of neurological diseases in children, often caused by extracranial diseases.

Scientific principles/background knowledge: Headaches can be acute or chronic. When acute headache is accompanied by fever and vomiting, the first thing to consider is to exclude infection of the central nervous system;

When chronic headaches are accompanied by vomiting but no fever, the most important thing to consider is whether there is a tumor in the brain.

Among all types of headaches, tension headaches and vascular headaches are more common, and headaches caused by intracranial space-occupying lesions are only a minority. However, if not diagnosed in time, they often cause serious consequences.

Therefore, if parents find their children have a headache, they should take them to the hospital for treatment in time.

In addition, headaches are also related to the living habits of modern children. Watching TV, playing video games, using the computer, or doing homework or reading for a long time can cause eye muscle fatigue and high mental tension. Incorrect sitting posture when doing homework can also cause neck muscle tension, which can cause headaches in children.

Therefore, parents should pay attention to children's eye hygiene, which is beneficial to prevent myopia and headaches.
