What should I do if my baby has a lot of mosquito bites on his legs?

Babies' skin is very tender, thin and fragile, so they are more likely to attract mosquitoes. When a baby is bitten by a mosquito, small lumps will appear immediately on his body and become red and swollen. Parents often find that their babies have many mosquito bites on their bodies, but they dare not use medicine casually. So, what should you do if your baby has a lot of mosquito bites on his legs?

There is a substance in mosquito saliva that has vasodilatory and anti-coagulant effects, which makes it easier for blood to flow to the bite site.

1. After being bitten by a mosquito, the victim's skin often develops blisters and itching.

2. Almost everyone has had the unpleasant experience of being "bitten" by a mosquito. In fact, it should be said that they have been "stung" by a mosquito. Mosquitoes cannot open their mouths, so they will not bite the skin. In fact, they use six needle-like structures to pierce human skin. These short needles are the core of the mosquito's feeding mouthparts. These short needles suck human blood just like a blood-drawing needle; the mosquito also releases saliva containing anticoagulants to prevent the blood from clotting so that it can have a safe meal.

3. When the mosquito has eaten its fill and flies away, all that is left behind is an itchy bump. However, the itchy feeling is not caused by the short needle pricks or chemicals in saliva. We feel itchy because the body's immune system releases a protein called histamine to fight foreign substances, and this immune response triggers an allergic reaction at the bite site. When blood flows to the bite to accelerate tissue recovery, histamine will cause swelling of the tissue around the bite. The intensity of this allergic reaction varies from person to person, and some people have more severe allergic reactions after being bitten by mosquitoes.

4. Each time a mosquito bites, it sucks about one five thousandth of a milliliter of blood. After each meal, the mosquito usually moves within 2 kilometers of its birthplace, but the maximum activity distance can reach 180 kilometers.

If a large lump appears after being bitten by a mosquito, you can consider applying some cooling oil or floral water. Also, you should pay attention to keeping your skin clean and hygienic, and be careful not to scratch it hard. If the swelling and pain persist, you need to consider seeking medical attention in time to see if there is an infection and seek treatment as soon as possible.
