Is it because my child is growing taller if his legs hurt?

Parents pay extra attention to their children's every move. If you have a headache or fever, you will often worry about it. Parents seem to have had this experience: "Is my child's leg pain because he is growing taller?" But they are also afraid that their child is really unwell. If they are too perfunctory, what should they do if something unexpected happens? Faced with this problem, parents have to be extra careful. Pay attention to the growth characteristics of children at different stages, and respond according to the situation one by one. Don't make a big deal out of a small matter or let a small matter go.

"Is your child's leg pain because he is growing taller?" When you hear such a question, don't be surprised, as parents care about every detail of their children.

Growing pains in children are a physiological phenomenon that occurs during the growth and development of children. They mostly occur in children between the ages of 3 and 12. They are mainly manifested as limb pain, which may also be accompanied by pain in other joints, and even abdominal pain, but pain in the lower limbs and thighs is the most common. When children experience leg pain, it is mostly on one side or both sides. Most children report pain in the front and outer sides of the thigh or the back of the calf, and the knee joint, which is generally mild or moderate pain. Some children sometimes have severe pain and may be forced to stop activities or cry and be restless. If it occurs during sleep at night, they may even wake up in pain. The pain usually occurs around dusk, and excessive exercise and fatigue can aggravate the symptoms, which will be relieved by themselves after rest. The onset of pain is generally irregular, and each time lasts from a few minutes to several hours, and most of them are relatively short. The pain can occur repeatedly and intermittently, with a short course of several months or a long course of several years, but it usually disappears naturally when the child's body matures.

The most important thing in treating growing pains in children is to get enough rest. Soak your child’s feet and calves in hot water every night before going to bed. But when children are not tired, they should be encouraged to move more and exercise their muscle strength. When the pain is severe, you can apply local massage, take painkillers, or take an appropriate amount of vitamin C. With proper rest, exercise, massage, and symptomatic medication, children's growing pains will heal quickly.

Not all joint pains are growing pains. Parents can first ask their children which joints hurt. Have you suffered any external injuries? First rule out pain caused by trauma, and then make a judgment based on physical signs.

Parents should pay more attention and care to their children's growth. Does my child’s leg pain mean he is growing taller? Or other physical illness? Such situations do exist, but we should still pay attention and follow up at all times just in case. Ask doctors and experts more questions. Children's growth follows certain patterns, and not all physical pains represent growing pains.
