Can a child's head be damaged if he falls to the ground?

Although every parent loves their child very much, there is still a possibility that the child will be injured due to negligence in the process of taking care of the child. For example, when the child is sleeping in the bed, the child may turn over and fall to the ground. Whether the child may break his head when falling to the ground is the most concerned issue for parents when the child falls to the ground. Let's analyze it for people below.

1. First of all, observe the baby's mental state, whether there is any abnormality such as long-term crying, irritability, restless sleep, etc., whether there is redness, swelling or hematoma in the place where the baby landed, and whether there is any abnormality in limb movements. If the hematoma is large, you can first treat it by applying cold compress (not to exceed five minutes). If there is bleeding, apply pressure to stop the bleeding immediately. If your baby has bleeding in the nose or mouth, no treatment is needed if it is not serious (small bleeding spots), and it will usually heal on its own in about two days. If bleeding is severe, seek medical attention immediately to prevent the blood in the mouth from irritating the throat and causing symptoms such as vomiting.

Second, comfort the baby in time and try to calm the baby down. Avoid calling out loudly or threatening the baby to avoid causing the baby to become nervous, sleep unsteadily, or have convulsions.

Third, observe the baby's reaction, such as whether the baby reacts sensitively when you call him or talk to him. If the baby becomes drowsy or cannot be awakened after sleeping, and is accompanied by frequent vomiting or convulsions, trance and other symptoms, you should go to the hospital in time to check whether the baby has concussion or brain damage.

Generally, for babies under one year old, since the fontanelle is not completely closed, when the baby falls from the bed, even if the head hits the ground, there is a cushioning effect inside the skull, so the chance of brain trauma is very small. As long as the baby does not have symptoms such as frequent vomiting and abnormal consciousness, it will generally not have any impact on the baby's head and intellectual development.

As long as the baby has no abnormal conditions or symptoms of trauma within 48 hours, and his spirit and appetite are normal, the mother does not need to worry.
