What vaccines should babies get when they are one month old?

When the baby is one month old, he needs to get the hepatitis B vaccine. It is usually given at the hospital where he was born or the local health center. The vaccination is free and you can attend the class and get a booklet. In the future, the baby's vaccination status can be based on what is written in the vaccination booklet. After the vaccination, be careful not to touch water for 24 hours and do not touch the wound again and again to avoid infection. You will need to get vaccinated regularly in the future.

Babies need to be vaccinated against hepatitis B when they are one month old. Generally speaking, you only need to bring your baby's vaccination booklet. If you don't have it, you can ask your local hospital or community clinic for it.

Because neonatal pneumonia is mostly caused by intrauterine infection, infection during delivery or infection after birth. If there is intrauterine infection, BCG and hepatitis B vaccines cannot be given at birth because the child will be hospitalized directly and his immunity is low at this time. Because of a congenital infection, his immunity is quite low. If he gets vaccinated at this time, especially BCG, it can easily induce an attack of tuberculosis.

After birth, if there is no abnormal reaction within 24 hours after birth due to intrapartum infection, you can get vaccinated. Especially if he gets neonatal pneumonia during the confinement period after birth, you cannot get the hepatitis B vaccine when he is one month old. You cannot get any vaccine until the neonatal pneumonia is completely cured. You have to stop taking the medicine for one week before you can get the vaccine or take oral sugar pills, etc. Because vaccines are attenuated or inactivated vaccines, children have low immunity when they have pneumonia, and their immune function is also poor during the recovery period, which can easily cause vaccine reactions, such as fever, cough, diarrhea, etc. Therefore, it is recommended to stop taking the medicine for one week before giving the vaccine to the child if there is no abnormal reaction.

① Hepatitis B vaccine:

One situation is that the mother is positive for hepatitis B and needs to be promptly administered the first dose of hepatitis B vaccine and hepatitis B immunoglobulin within 24 hours. If the premature baby of this type weighs <2kg at birth, the first dose of vaccination cannot be counted in the basic immunization of hepatitis B vaccine, but should be administered 3 doses of hepatitis B vaccine according to the 0, 1, 6 schedule after one month. That means 4 injections are needed.

Another situation is that the mother does not have hepatitis B. If the birth weight is <2kg, the hepatitis B vaccine should be postponed and the first dose should be given when the weight reaches 2kg or the baby is 2 months old.

② BCG:

Premature babies weighing <2.5kg should wait until the baby is full-term and weighs >2.5kg before being vaccinated. Regarding whether PPD test is needed for children over 3 months old to receive BCG vaccination, different places have different opinions. Depending on the epidemic situation, tuberculin test can be performed or direct vaccination method can be not performed.
