How to care for newborn diarrhea

Nowadays, the health of every child is the most concerning issue for parents, and the immunity of newborns is generally low, making them prone to some epidemic diseases such as colds. However, we must always pay attention in our daily life. Today I will introduce to you the care of neonatal diarrhea. So how should we care for neonatal diarrhea? Let’s take a look at it below.

The first principle of nursing for pediatric diarrhea is to give the child more fluid than the normal intake, such as water or other liquid food such as porridge, soup, etc. If the baby is breastfed, continue feeding, but increase the frequency (at least once every 3 hours). If the baby is bottle-fed, add twice as much water as usual to the milk and feed at least once every 3 hours.

Preventive Care

1. Promote breastfeeding, avoid weaning in summer, and change diet types. Add complementary foods at the right time and in the right amount, feed properly, do not overfeed with milk or feed difficult-to-digest foods.

2. Pay attention to food hygiene, wash hands before and after meals, and disinfect tableware.

3. Pay attention to climate changes, add or remove clothes and quilts in time to avoid heatstroke or cold.

4. Ensure isolation treatment of diarrhea patients and feces disinfection.

5. Avoid long-term abuse of antibiotics to prevent enteritis caused by dysbiosis.

6. The air in the ward should be fresh and the temperature should be appropriate.

7. Pay attention to disinfection and isolation of children with infectious diarrhea.

8. Control your diet and reduce dairy products appropriately. Those who vomit frequently should fast for 8 to 12 hours. As the condition improves, gradually resume eating small amounts of easily digestible food. After recovery, you should pay attention to adjusting your diet.

2 Nursing principles

The second principle of nursing for pediatric diarrhea is to continue feeding the child. Infants aged 4 to 6 months and above should be provided with highly nutritious and relatively high-calorie foods, but it depends on the age of the child. It can be a mixture of cereal and beans, or a mixture of cereal and meat or fish. Edible oil can also be added to ensure that they contain sufficient heat energy. Dairy products, eggs, fresh juice and bananas can also be provided because these fruits are rich in potassium. Special attention should be paid to not giving children high-sugar foods, as they can aggravate diarrhea. Also, do not give them high-fiber and indigestible foods. If you give them very watery soups, even though they contain plenty of water, they do not have enough nutrition and are not conducive to the child's recovery.

The third principle of pediatric diarrhea care is to take the child to the hospital for treatment. When a child has diarrhea too many times, is severely thirsty, has sunken eyelids, has a fever, cannot eat or drink normally, and there is no improvement after treatment at home, the child must be taken to the hospital for treatment. Mothers can also use Dinggui navel patch, which is very effective and takes effect in 1 day.

The above is our introduction to how to care for neonatal diarrhea. If parents don’t know how yet, they can refer to the content introduced above. This can help us learn how to care for the baby, which is also a kind of care for the baby. I hope the above content can help you.
