What causes tics in children?

Tourette syndrome is not a common disease in real life, but once you have it, it may be difficult to treat. Especially for some elderly patients with tics, there is basically no cure, despite the relatively developed modern medicine. Therefore, once parents discover that their children have tics, they must help them receive treatment as soon as possible. So, what causes tics in children?

1. Mental factors. If the baby is frightened or inexplicably emotional, and if the parents do not discover and deal with it in time, the baby may suffer from childhood tics.

2. Physical factors. If the baby is nervous, timid, hyperactive, emotionally unstable, and sensitive to people and things, he or she is likely to suffer from childhood tics.

3. Family factors. If the parents have a tense relationship, are divorced, or scold or beat their children, these behaviors can easily lead to tics in babies.

4. Other factors. Sudden illnesses, such as upper respiratory tract infections and minor brain injuries, can also be triggers of tics in children. Studies have found that severe colds can also trigger tics.

Childhood tics are motor or vocal muscle spasms that often occur in childhood, and are mainly manifested by involuntary, stereotyped movements, such as frequent blinking, making strange faces, shaking the head, shrugging, coughing sounds, clearing the throat, etc. Generally, it can heal itself within a short period of time or through treatment. Stubborn cases can last for several years or even continue into adulthood.

It is now generally advocated that patients with a course of illness of 1 month to 1 year be called temporary tic disorder; patients with a course of illness of more than 1 year be called chronic tic disorder. In chronic tic disorder, motor tics and vocal tics should not appear at the same time. The incidence of this disease is about 1%~7%, and some reports have shown it to be as high as 4%~23%. It is more common in preschool and early school-age children, with more males than females, with a male-to-female ratio of about 3~4:1. Generally, it can heal itself within a short period of time or through treatment. Stubborn cases can last for several years or even continue into adulthood.

Sports

Train children's balance ability. Children with attention deficit disorder often have uncoordinated motor systems, especially their motor balance systems. Therefore, the care of children with tics can be carried out through conscious training using simpler tools and toys in life.

Functional aspects

In most children with tics, the muscles and nerves in the cervical vertebrae and spine are relatively loose or slowly developed. In order to promote the development of this part of the child's tics, special training can be given to the child in the care of the child's tics. For example: face the wall one meter away, lie on the ground and push the ball 300 times each time, and gradually increase the amount after you become proficient. Use special equipment to do head-down exercises (brain exercise, height increaser, mini plum blossom pile, etc.). Climb into the swing bag to do nail-insertion training, etc.

Diet

In terms of diet, children with tics should avoid MSG and eat less beverages, yogurt, sugar, and puffed foods. Easy to eat foods such as eggs, milk, potatoes, etc.
