What should I do if my six-year-old child has a persistent high fever?

If your child has a high fever that won't go away, you must find a way to reduce the fever first, because such a continued high fever is not good for their body. And because children have poor resistance, if the high fever continues, their resistance will become worse and worse. In the end, even taking some antipyretic drugs will not have any effect. So at the beginning, you must use some physical methods to reduce their temperature.

1. Wet cold compress on the head: Apply a wet towel to the forehead of the child with fever, changing it every 2 to 3 minutes

2. Ice pillow: Crush the ice cubes and put them into an ice bag (or hot water bag) with water. After exhausting the air, tighten the bag and place it on the neck of the child with fever.

3. Warm water bath: Let the feverish child bathe in warm water at about 30℃ for 20 to 30 minutes. 4. Sponge bath: Soak gauze with 30% to 50% alcohol or cold water, and wipe the feverish baby's upper limbs, lower limbs, forehead, neck, armpits and groin.

If the child's high fever is caused by catching a cold, it is recommended to check the routine blood test to see if the white blood cell count is high. If the white blood cell count is high, it means there is an inflammatory infection and symptomatic anti-inflammatory treatment is needed to effectively reduce the fever. When you have a fever, you can take Motrin to reduce the fever. Generally, anti-inflammatory drugs such as Bacillus and Azithromycin can be used for anti-inflammatory treatment

Considering that it is caused by inflammatory infection, anti-inflammatory treatment should be continued, because some infections cannot be cured in a day or two. If the fever is difficult to reduce, you can consider using hormones to enhance the anti-inflammatory effect if necessary.

There are many causes of fever in children, which can be clinically divided into infectious and non-infectious. Infectious causes are more common, such as colds. For fever, the cause must be identified first and treated accordingly. When the body temperature is too high, it is easy to cause high fever convulsions in children, so it is also necessary to control the body temperature, mainly by using drugs and physical cooling methods. Specific medications are best used under the guidance of a doctor.

The reason for high fever in children is basically infection. If it is not controlled in time, other symptoms of a cold may appear. The best thing to do is to apply cold compresses to their heads with wet towels. This is a very good physical cooling method. However, the towel must be changed every two or three minutes, otherwise the heat dissipation effect will not be achieved.
