Treatment for a child with a heart murmur

Treatment for a child with a heart murmur

As parents, when our children have heart murmurs, we are all worried. We often take our children to seek medical treatment in the middle of the night, which tortures the children and many parents. So, is there any good way to treat children's heart murmurs? It can not only solve the problem of heart murmurs in children but also reduce troubles for our parents. Here we will introduce the treatment methods for heart murmurs in children.

Treatment:

1. Surgical treatment: For those with a clear diagnosis, surgery should be performed as soon as possible, with the ideal time being around 5 years old. Those with pulmonary hypertension and left-to-right shunt should strive for surgery. However, those with severe pulmonary hypertension and right-to-left shunt should be considered as contraindications for surgery. The prognosis after surgery is generally good.

2. Some smaller cases of type II atrial septal defects may close spontaneously within 1 year after birth, but the possibility of spontaneous closure within 2 years after birth is extremely small. Simple type II atrial septal defect or type II atrial septal defect with partial right pulmonary venous anomalous return, where the ratio of pulmonary circulation blood flow to systemic circulation blood flow exceeds 1.5:1, should consider surgical treatment. The most appropriate age for surgery is 4 to 5 years old. Early surgical treatment can prevent increased pulmonary circulation resistance and right heart failure. If congestive heart failure presents in infancy and childhood and medical surgery fails to control heart failure, surgery should be performed as soon as possible. Pulmonary circulation resistance increased significantly, reaching more than 6 Wood units at rest, and did not decrease or increased further after exercise. Surgical treatment is contraindicated in cases of clinical cyanosis, reverse shunt at the atrial level, and further decrease in arterial oxygen saturation after exercise.

3. This disease is a congenital disease and there are no effective preventive measures. Early detection, early diagnosis and early treatment should be achieved. For patients with small ventricular septal defects, the prognosis is good, and their natural life expectancy can even reach over 70 years old; patients with small defects may even close on their own before the age of 10. Those with large defects may develop heart failure at the age of 1 to 2 years, and those with pulmonary hypertension have a poor prognosis. Timely surgical treatment can generally achieve the same results as normal people.

The above content introduces us to how to treat children's heart murmurs. When our babies have heart murmurs, we can treat our children faster and better, restore their health faster, and relieve our parents of unnecessary worries. I hope the above content is helpful to everyone.
