What to do if your baby has a red bottom

If your baby has a red bottom, it may be due to untimely diaper changes, hot weather, or skin eczema. The baby will not go to the toilet by himself, so it is normal for him to urinate on the diaper. At this time, as parents, you must check whether the baby has urinated or defecated in time. If so, change the diaper in time, wash the baby's bottom with a clean wet towel, and then dry and ventilate it.

"Red buttocks" is commonly known as red buttocks in medicine. Babies have delicate skin. Is there a good way to prevent and treat "red buttocks"? Prevention and treatment of baby's red buttocks mainly depends on care. If the measures are appropriate, the baby's "red buttocks" will get better soon.

For mild diaper rash with only local skin flushing, the buttocks should be kept clean and dry, and wet diapers should be replaced in time. Even disposable diapers should be changed regularly, and cannot be mechanically changed every 8 hours.

Every time after the child has a bowel movement or changes diapers, wash it with warm water or 4% boric acid water, dry it, and then apply some vegetable oil. Do not use soap to clean the buttocks.

If the temperature or room temperature conditions permit, you can put a diaper under the buttocks to fully expose the buttocks to the air or sunlight, 2-3 times a day, each time for 10-20 minutes. Generally, the red buttocks will recover in 1-2 days.

If local skin redness is accompanied by a rash, apply disinfected cod liver oil. If the rash is ulcerated, you can use zinc oxide ointment or mercurochrome plus cod liver oil. If there is local skin erosion or epidermal exfoliation, you can apply cod liver oil zinc oxide paste. If there is a secondary bacterial infection, rinse with 1:5000 potassium permanganate solution, blot dry, and then apply 1%-2% gentian violet solution or 0.5% neomycin zinc oxide paste.

It must be noted that when parents clean their children's "red buttocks", they should use their hands with water to gently clean them, instead of wiping the buttocks directly with a towel. After cleaning, they should gently dry them with a towel.

When applying oils and ointments, you should place the cotton swab on the skin and roll it gently instead of brushing it up and down to avoid aggravating pain and causing peeling.
