What to do if children are allergic to mites

Mites often lurk around us, but we don't know it because they are very small and can only be seen under a microscope. So we can't see the bugs crawling in certain places unless we observe carefully. Children's skin is tender and they are most prone to mite allergies. As parents, we must make these diagnoses.

Allergen Testing

1. Self-diagnosis of mite allergy

Diseases caused by mite allergy mainly include allergic rhinitis, allergic asthma and allergic dermatitis. Among them, allergic rhinitis and asthma are the most confusing. Allergic rhinitis is very similar to a cold, with main symptoms including runny nose, continuous sneezing, nasal congestion and itching. The main symptoms of allergic asthma are coughing, wheezing, chest tightness and sudden suffocation. The manifestations of allergic dermatitis are more complicated, such as eczema or urticaria. The symptoms are generally red spots or wheals on the affected skin, which are extremely itchy.

How to identify dust mite allergy

These diseases caused by mite allergy have relatively obvious onset times and occasions, which is also an important basis for us to judge whether it is a mite allergy. Generally speaking, the onset of the above-mentioned diseases caused by mite allergies is concentrated in the time when we fall asleep at night and when we get up in the morning, because at this time we lie in bed, and the bed is the place with the most mite allergens (including living mites, dead mites, secretions, eggs and feces, etc.), so it is easy to have allergic attacks. When we sit on the sofa, hug a pillow or stuffed toy, or get close to other cotton and linen fabrics, we are also very prone to allergies because there are a lot of mites on these items.

In addition, when we clean and fold clothes and quilts, it is also a high-incidence period for mite allergies. Because when we do these actions, the mites living in the dust and clothes and quilts will float in the air, greatly increasing the chance of contact with our human body, so it is very easy to cause allergies.
