What should I do if my child vomits everything he eats or drinks?

When children vomit everything they eat, parents will worry too much, and some will even treat their children by using drugs. In fact, these are not really effective. The key to children vomiting everything they eat lies in the control of their diet. We have to consider that it is a disease in the intestines, coupled with a lack of proper diet, which leads to such a reaction.

Parents do not need to worry about children vomiting. Children vomiting is one of the common diseases in children. There are many reasons for children vomiting, and specific analysis is required.

Vomiting is caused by the reverse peristalsis of the esophagus and gastrointestinal tract, accompanied by strong contraction of the abdominal muscles and diaphragm, which forces the contents of the esophagus or stomach to flow out of the mouth.

Vomiting is very common and can occur with a variety of illnesses. Severe vomiting in children can cause respiratory arrest and cyanosis in infants. Repeated vomiting can cause water and electrolyte leakage.

The body's body's acid-base balance is disturbed. Newborns and infants are prone to aspiration pneumonia due to inhalation of vomitus, and long-term vomiting can lead to nutritional disorders.

What to do if a child vomits?

Mild vomiting in children does not have a significant impact on their health and does not require treatment. Severe vomiting not only causes the person to vomit a large amount of water, but also electrolytes, leading to dehydration.

Symptoms of acid-base imbalance must be treated urgently.

(1) Fast for 4-6 hours. Mild or moderate dehydration can be treated with "oral rehydration salts" in small amounts and multiple times. Most children can correct dehydration and acidosis. If the condition cannot be corrected or the child cannot tolerate oral rehydration, the best way is to perform intravenous infusion correction based on blood biochemical tests.

(2) Treat the primary disease. For surgical obstructive diseases, surgery should be performed to relieve the obstructed segment. If vomiting is medical in nature, the underlying disease should be treated. If the baby is fed improperly and swallows a lot of gas, the mother should place the child on her shoulder and pat her back after feeding to make the child burp and expel the gas.

(3) Antiemetics should be taken. The safest and most effective drug is metoclopramide, 0.3 mg per kilogram of body weight, 3 times a day, 15 to 30 minutes before meals.

(4) In case of recurrent vomiting, drink small amounts of cold boiled water or ice water multiple times during the fasting period. Drinking warm water can easily induce vomiting.

(5) Patients with severe vomiting must fast for 4 hours. Except for gastric perforation, gastric lavage can be performed with normal saline or 1-2% sodium bicarbonate solution. Be careful to lie on your side to prevent vomit from being inhaled into the trachea.
