When a child has a high fever, it can be treated in a variety of ways. In traditional Chinese medicine, the most common method of treating children's fever is massage. There are many reasons why children have fever, such as fever due to indigestion, fever due to yin deficiency, fever due to wind-cold, fever due to wind-heat, etc. Different massage methods are needed for different types of fever. Below we will introduce in detail the massage methods for children with fever. 1. Fever due to indigestion Food accumulation is the main cause of all childhood diseases! The fever caused by indigestion is called "accumulated heat" and common people call it "food fire". If a child eats too much, the food will stagnate in the middle burner. Over time, it will turn into heat, and the heat will evaporate inside the body, causing the child's body temperature to rise. Most of these children have yellow faces, red tongues, thick and greasy tongue coating, abdominal distension and loss of appetite, bad breath, vomiting and diarrhea, hot hands and feet, indigestion of milk and food, sour, smelly, dry and hard stools or constipation. These are all caused by eating and drinking. Pediatric massage techniques: Qingwei Meridian: From the intersection of the yellow and white skin on the outer edge of the thenar eminence at the lower end of the thumb, push centrifugally to the base of the thumb. Push 200 times per minute, and each time can last 5 to 10 minutes. Clear the large intestine: push on the outside of the index finger towards the fingertip to clear. It can take 5 to 10 minutes at a time. Four horizontal lines acupoints: Use the tip of your thumb to push from the base of the index finger to the base of the little finger on the side of the child's palm, back and forth. It can take 5 to 10 minutes at a time. Qingtianhe Water: Located in a straight line from the middle tendon of the forearm to Hongchi (Quze). The water from the transverse lines on the wrist to the transverse lines on the elbow is called Qing Tianhe Water. It can take 5 to 10 minutes at a time. When the heat is severe and the tongue coating is yellow, you can add the Tui Liufu point and massage for 10 minutes each time. Rub the abdomen smoothly: eliminate stagnation and relieve constipation. Push down the seven vertebrae: clear away heat and promote bowel movements. While doing massage, avoid eating greasy and irritating food, and take some Chinese medicines such as Children's Seven-Star Tea and Baohe Pills to clear heat and regulate the spleen and stomach. 2. Yin deficiency fever Yin deficiency causes fever, and these children have no symptoms of external infection or food accumulation. Generally, there are hot flashes in the afternoon, fever starts in the afternoon or at night, hot hands and feet, irritability, restless sleep, frequent dreams, night sweats, dry mouth and throat, red or cracked tongue, and little or no coating. After confirming that the child had a fever due to yin deficiency, I used the principle of "nourishing yin, clearing heat and reducing fever" to perform massage. Massage techniques for children: rub Erma, rub Xiaotianxin, clear and nourish the spleen, clear Tianhe water, rub Yongquan, etc. Knead the two horses for 10 minutes Knead the small heart for about 5 minutes Push and clear the spleen for about 5 minutes Qingtian River Water 3 minutes Rub Yongquan for 3 minutes: guide the heat downward and guide the fire back to its origin. 3. Wind-cold and fever Massage techniques for children: four major techniques for head and face, rubbing Yiwofeng, calming the liver and clearing the lungs, clearing Tianhe water, etc. The four major techniques for head and face: opening the Tianmen, pushing the Kan Palace, moving the Taiyang, and rubbing the high bone behind the ear. Perform each technique 60 times. 1. Open the Gate of Heaven 2. Tui Kan Palace 3. The Sun 4. Rub the high bone behind the ear Rub the wind for 10 minutes Follow the eight trigrams for about 5 minutes Calming the liver and clearing the lungs for 5 minutes Clear the Tianhe water for about 5 minutes, using the same techniques as shown in the animation; if the child does not sweat after the above techniques, you can combine it with pinching the spine 7 to 9 times. You can soak your feet in moxa leaves, or drink ginger sugar water, ginger porridge, etc. until you sweat slightly, the effect is very good! 4. Wind-heat fever Colds caused by wind-heat often cause runny nose, yellow phlegm, and hot palms. If there is a fever, it is often moderate to high fever, sometimes accompanied by sore throat and tonsillitis. If you have a fever due to a cold, it is usually a low fever, around 38 degrees. Pediatric massage technique: soothe the liver and clear the lungs for more than 10 minutes Qingtian River water for more than 10 minutes When the temperature is around 38.5 degrees or above, you can add the Tuiliufu point and massage for 10 to 15 minutes at a time. You can also squeeze the Dazhui point. |
