Causes of fever in children in August

It is very common for children to have fever and colds. Since their bodies are not yet fully developed, they are easily infected by viruses, and fever is very common. This is not the only reason that causes children to have a fever. What is the reason for an August-month-old child to have a fever? Understanding the reasons will be of great help in taking care of children, so let’s take a look!

The reasons why 8-month-old babies have fever can be divided into three categories:

1. Non-disease factors: In many cases, the cause of children's fever is not physical illness, but the influence of external factors, such as high temperature (heatstroke), wearing too many clothes, insufficient water intake, water loss (sweating, diarrhea), poor ventilation in the room, before and after strenuous exercise, the effects of certain special drugs, and other factors such as preventive injections may also cause fever.

2. Infectious fever: Infectious fever is the most common cause of fever. It is caused by various pathogens such as bacteria, viruses, parasites, mycoplasma, chlamydia, rickettsia, spirochetes, fungi, etc., all of which can cause fever due to the metabolites or toxins of pathogens. The most common diseases include upper respiratory tract infections, influenza, swollen tonsils, mumps, amoeba infections, malaria, schistosomiasis, etc.

3. Non-infectious fever: When mechanical, physical or chemical damage to tissues occurs, the body's protein metabolism and its decomposition products increase abnormally, such as tissue damage after major surgery, fractures, tumors, hemolytic reactions, etc. Heat dissipation disorders, such as generalized dermatitis, ichthyosis, or lack of sweat glands, massive blood loss or water loss caused by large-area burns. Abnormal temperature regulation function, such as incomplete brain development and heat stroke, directly damages the temperature regulation center, causing regulation function disorders and causing fever.
