Why do boys sweat so much?

Why do boys sweat so much?

Boys sweat more frequently than girls and are more likely to sweat profusely. Physiological sweating is normal because it is always easy to sweat in this season. As long as you control your body temperature, keep the room well ventilated, and turn on the air conditioner when necessary, you can alleviate the phenomenon of frequent sweating.

1. Physiological sweating: It is normal for babies to sweat excessively, which is medically called physiological hyperhidrosis. This is because infants and young children have more water content in their skin and more micro-capillaries on the surface of their skin, so the baby's skin metabolism is more active, causing more water to evaporate from the skin. In addition, the secretion of sweat glands is regulated by the autonomic nervous system. Since babies are not fully developed, their neuroendocrine regulation function is naturally weaker. In this way, even when sleeping at night, the baby's autonomic nervous system is still in an excited state, so it is easy to sweat when just falling asleep. If children are too active before going to bed, the metabolism of various organs in the body will be active, which can increase the body's heat production. During sleep, the blood vessels in the skin dilate, the sweat glands secrete more, and they sweat profusely, which is beneficial for heat dissipation. Secondly, eating before going to bed can enhance gastrointestinal motility, increase gastric juice secretion, and increase sweat gland secretion, leading to increased sweating in children after falling asleep, especially within the first 2 hours of falling asleep. In addition, if the indoor temperature is too high, the quilt is too thick, or an electric blanket is used, it can cause profuse sweating during sleep. Warm reminder: Babies who sweat a lot will also lose more water in their bodies. Because sweating will cause the baby to lose a certain amount of electrolytes such as sodium, chlorine, and potassium. Especially when the baby has a fever, if he sweats a lot, he will easily become dehydrated.

2. Pathological hyperhidrosis: Babies sweat too much due to certain diseases, which manifests as sweating a lot when they are quiet or after falling asleep at night. The sweat can wet the pillow and clothes, which is called "pathological sweating." Such as active rickets in infants and young children, active tuberculosis in children, hypoglycemia in children, excessive dose of antipyretics and mental factors, such as excessive excitement and fear. Some babies have endocrine diseases (such as hyperthyroidism, etc.), which can also cause pathological sweating. In addition to excessive sweating, each disease also has many other disease manifestations. Parents need to take their baby to the hospital for further examinations.

3. Active rickets: Infants under one year old sweat a lot. If they lack outdoor activities and sun exposure, and do not add cod liver oil and calcium powder in time, parents should observe whether the baby has other manifestations of rickets in addition to sweating, such as crying at night, crying and shaking the head on the pillow while sleeping, resulting in hair loss circles on the back of the head (also known as occipital baldness), ping-pong head (the bone in the occipital bone becomes soft, and it feels like touching a ping-pong ball), square skull (the forehead is protruding and the head is shaped like a square box), large anterior fontanelle and late closure, etc. Parents should take their baby to the hospital for examination by a doctor to make a clear diagnosis.

4. Children with active tuberculosis often sweat a lot not only in the first half of the night, but also in the second half of the night before dawn, which is called "night sweats."
