How to treat hand, foot and mouth disease blisters

Many people don’t know how to deal with blisters caused by hand, foot and mouth disease because this disease is not very common around us. Hand, foot and mouth disease is an infectious disease that is zoonotic. If you suffer from this disease, you must first keep the affected area clean and wash it frequently, and then combine it with drug treatment. If the condition is more serious, isolation treatment is required. Let’s take a closer look at how to treat hand, foot and mouth disease blisters.

1. Keep the affected area clean

Keep the local skin clean, wash your hands frequently, and avoid scratching the affected area to prevent secondary bacterial infection. For children with rashes and blisters, their clothes and bedding should be clean, and their clothes should be loose and soft; children's nails should be cut short, and their hands should be wrapped if necessary to prevent them from scratching the rash. For children with rashes on their buttocks, their urine and feces should be cleaned at all times and their buttocks should be kept clean and dry.

2. Topical application

In the early stages of rashes on the hands and feet, you can apply calamine lotion, and when herpes forms, apply 0.5% iodine tincture. If the herpes has ruptured, gentian violet or antibiotic ointment can be applied locally; if the herpes has ulcers, chlortetracycline and cod liver oil can be used to relieve pain. It is prohibited to use various preparations containing skin hormones externally. You can also take antiviral drugs and Chinese herbal medicines for clearing heat and detoxifying, and supplement vitamins B and C under the guidance of a doctor.

3. Use dietary therapy remedies

1. Mung bean and barley soup

Method: Wash 200 grams of mung beans and 200 grams of coix seeds, add water and cook. Do not cook for too long, otherwise the beans will become rotten and become bean soup, which will lose its heat-relieving effect.

Efficacy: The mung bean skin is cold and the meat is neutral. As a heat-relieving food, mung bean should be eaten with the skin. Job's tears is cold in nature, sweet and light in taste, and has the effects of strengthening the spleen, clearing away heat and promoting dampness. It is suitable for children with hand, foot and mouth disease.

2. Barley and Winter Melon Soup

Method: Boil lean meat soup with 100 grams of coix seed and 300 grams of winter melon.

Efficacy: Clears away heat and dampness, and promotes the formation of scabs on blisters.

3. Sweet herbal tea

Preparation: Boil 2.5 qian of Isatis indigotica leaves, 2.5 qian of honeysuckle, 4 qian of mung beans, and 1 qian of dried tangerine peel in 2.5 bowls of water until it becomes 1 bowl. Add brown sugar to make a sweet herbal tea. Let children take it twice a day (once every four hours) for three days.

Efficacy: Clears away heat and detoxifies, suitable for children with hand, foot and mouth disease, and those with rashes and blisters on their hands, feet and mouth.

4. Pay attention to isolation and rest

Recovery from hand, foot and mouth disease requires a good rest, and first of all, the sick child should be isolated from healthy children. If the child's condition is not serious, he or she should stay at home until the fever and rash subside and the blisters scab over; generally, isolation for 2 weeks is required. Toys, tableware or other items used by the sick child should be thoroughly disinfected to avoid infection.
