What happens if my baby has a fever but no other symptoms?

Simply put, fever means that the body temperature is higher than normal. Adults, young people, teenagers and even babies a few months old may have a fever, which is quite normal. Because in most cases, fever is a self-repair and self-immune response of the human body. It’s just that fever makes patients feel very uncomfortable. So, what if the baby has a fever but no other symptoms?

If your baby has a fever and does not have any symptoms, you should take him to the hospital to check his blood routine to see what is causing the fever. Generally speaking, if a child's fever does not exceed 38.5℃, it is recommended to use only physical cooling methods. However, if the temperature exceeds 38.5℃ or the child has a history of convulsions, antipyretics should be used in time. Parents are advised to choose acetaminophen (Bifurin, Tylenol, etc.) and ibuprofen (Motrin, etc.), which are the two most widely used drugs by pediatricians and have higher clinical safety.

When your baby is sleeping, usually let his head be slightly raised to help him breathe smoothly. At the same time, let your baby drink more boiled water and eat more vegetables and fruits. If the baby's fever is 39 degrees, antibacterial, antiviral and cooling treatment can be used. The temperature, humidity and air concentration in the baby's bedroom should be appropriate. The baby should be dressed appropriately and covered with quilts, and be sure to keep the baby's abdomen warm. If your baby's bedroom is dry, you can put a few basins of water in the room or add a humidifier.

When taking medicine, you need to pay attention to the difference in dosage forms: acetaminophen products such as Benadryl and Tylenol have three dosage forms: drops, oral solutions, and chewable tablets. Motrin, a drug similar to ibuprofen, is only available in two dosage forms for children: drops and oral solution. For infants under 1 year old, it is best to use drops because the drug concentration in drops is low and the irritation is less.
