How to relieve altitude sickness in children

If children suffer from altitude sickness, the harm is relatively serious. Children are relatively young and have relatively poor physical constitutions. If parents take their children to some high-altitude areas, the children may suffer from altitude sickness. More serious cases may even easily induce pulmonary edema. At this time, parents must use some methods to treat it. There are some anti-altitude sickness drugs that have a good therapeutic effect. Let us take a brief look at them.

How to relieve altitude sickness in children

1. Anti-altitude sickness drugs such as Rhodiola rosea and Gaoyuanan. Although the effects of drugs on each person are different, it is still recommended to take them one week before departure and the first one or two days after entering the plateau.

2. American ginseng replenishes qi. It is more effective to place it under the tongue and hold it before eating it than to eat it directly.

3. Analgesics such as ibuprofen and fambid are more effective in treating headaches and can relieve symptoms.

4. Carry glucose and chocolate with you, as they can replenish energy and help relieve symptoms of altitude sickness.

5. Bring several kinds of cold medicine, such as Western medicine like Contac and Isatis root granules, which are the most commonly used medicines when traveling. You should also bring antipyretics, anti-inflammatory drugs, Band-Aids, and gastrointestinal medicines.

To prevent altitude sickness, experts recommend:

1. After reaching the plateau area above 2,700 meters above sea level, tourists should not overwork and avoid strenuous physical activities.

2. During the trip, travelers should not drink alcohol, take fewer baths (just a sponge bath is enough), drink more water, and avoid eating too much to avoid consuming too much oxygen.

3. It is best to bring an oxygen cylinder in case of oxygen deficiency. In addition, keep warm, especially to prevent colds.

4. If you experience severe altitude sickness, do not continue to higher altitudes. Stay at the original altitude until the symptoms disappear. If the condition worsens further, seek medical attention immediately.
