Pediatric brain injury syndrome

Pediatric brain injury syndrome

Pediatric brain injury syndrome is a relatively common disease at present. This disease can cause great harm to the human body. It is necessary to choose the right method to slowly regulate it. Generally, brain injury syndrome mainly occurs in children with entangled umbilical cords, thin umbilical cords, aging placentas, and premature rupture of amniotic fluids. Therefore, after these problems occur, you must go to the hospital for active attention to avoid complications.

1. What is brain injury syndrome?

Brain injury syndrome refers to damage to brain nerve tissue caused by various hazardous factors during pregnancy, birth or infancy, resulting in abnormal clinical symptoms. These risk factors mainly include hypertension, heart disease, diabetes and viral infection during pregnancy, umbilical cord around the neck at birth, umbilical cord that is too thin or too short, placental abruption, placental aging, premature rupture of membranes, amniotic fluid contamination, too much or too little amniotic fluid, malposition of the fetus (transverse presentation, breech presentation), premature birth, post-term birth, heavy birth weight (greater than 8 pounds), low birth weight (less than 5 pounds), pathological jaundice after birth, jaundice index that is too high and lasts too long, encephalitis, meningitis, intracranial hemorrhage caused by coagulation dysfunction, etc. Children with the above risk factors may suffer from brain injury syndrome and must be followed up regularly to detect problems early.

The specific clinical manifestations are as follows: easily startled, even with the slightest sound. The baby is in poor spirits, does not open his eyes for several days after birth, and eats little milk. Make unusual grunting sounds and try hard. He stretched his body and kicked the bed hard with his arms and legs. Abnormal thumb adduction and excessive fisting in both hands. Frequent spitting up. The above abnormal manifestations are mostly early symptoms of brain injury syndrome. Parents must pay attention.

2. What are the dangers of brain injury syndrome?

The above factors damage the brain tissue. Damage to different functional areas of the brain tissue will have different manifestations. If the motor area is affected, cerebral palsy will occur. Cerebral palsy is the most common sequelae, which is damage to the motor area, causing arm and leg movement disorders, inability to walk or awkward walking posture. If the intellectual center is affected, mental retardation will occur; if the language center is affected, there will be less pronunciation and difficulty speaking; if the auditory center is affected, hearing impairment will occur; and if the brain tissue of the visual center is affected, blindness in both eyes will occur. In other words, brain injury syndrome is the early stage of diseases such as cerebral palsy. If effectively treated, the child may fully recover to normal. If not effectively treated, it may develop into cerebral palsy, intellectual language disorders, and hearing and vision abnormalities.

3. Why should brain injury syndrome be diagnosed and treated early?

The human brain has only two peaks of development in life, namely during pregnancy and within one year after birth. The current mainstream view is that brain tissue cannot regenerate after being damaged in adulthood.
