Consequences of tonsillectomy in children

Tonsils are a small part of tissue in our throat, but although it is small, it is very important. Moreover, tonsils are very prone to inflammation. Once inflamed, they can easily cause other symptoms of a cold, so it causes a lot of trouble to people. So the more

More and more people choose to have their tonsils removed. So if a child has his tonsils removed, what consequences will it have for the child? From two aspects: On the one hand, the physiological function of tonsils cannot be ignored. It is a line of defense of the human immune organ. Frequent inflammation indicates immune problems. I suggest that if Western medicine cannot cure the disease, you should see a Chinese doctor. The use of traditional Chinese medicine can have unexpected effects. I recommend Chinese herbal medicine. On the other hand, regarding the issue of surgery, if Chinese medicine is not effective and the inflammation and swelling are often above third degree, surgery can be considered. The best time to do it is during the long holidays when the climate is suitable for faster healing, it will not affect schooling, and parents will have time to take care of the child.

I have had my tonsils removed for more than 30 years and I think it is better not to have them removed. What kind of tonsils should be removed? It is generally believed that tonsils have important physiological functions in children under 6 years old, and arbitrary removal will reduce the body's immunity, so surgery is generally not performed. When frequent tonsillitis affects breathing and pronunciation, or children's physical development is significantly affected by frequent tonsillitis; or if tonsillitis is not frequent but each attack is closely related to rheumatoid arthritis, heart disease and nephritis, or if tumors or stones grow on the tonsils, surgical removal should be considered. Children's tonsil surgery currently uses the squeezing and cutting method. This operation is very simple, can be done in an outpatient clinic, can be completed in a few minutes, and does not cause much pain to the child.

However, during the inflammatory period, surgery is not recommended to avoid the spread of inflammation and intraoperative and postoperative bleeding. Surgery is contraindicated for patients with blood diseases and diseases that affect coagulation function. Chronic tonsillitis is a chronic inflammation of the palatine tonsil crypts and their substance, which is more common in adolescents. It belongs to the categories of treating "false fire breast moth", "yin moth" and "slow moth". Etiology and Pathology According to traditional Chinese medicine, it is mostly caused by wind-heat in the throat or after a febrile disease, the remaining evil has not been cleared, the evil heat burns the lung yin, and the fluid is damaged, so the throat orifices are less moist; the fluid is refined into phlegm, and the phlegm heat accumulates in the throat, so the throat is red and swollen and it is a disease. Or it may be due to prolonged lactation, which affects the lungs and kidneys, causing the metal to dry up and the water to dry up, resulting in kidney yin deficiency. The pharyngeal orifice loses nourishment due to yin deficiency and excessive fire, which burns the laryngeal nucleus, thus causing laryngeal contracture. Modern medicine believes that this disease is caused by delayed treatment of acute tonsillitis. Sometimes it may also occur after certain acute infectious diseases such as scarlet fever, diphtheria, measles, and influenza. Due to bacterial and viral infections, purulent secretions occur in the tonsillar crypts, and the drainage in the tonsillar crypts is poor, causing pathogens to multiply and develop into chronic inflammation.
