1. Treatment principles

2. Basic Operations

(1) The child should lie in supine position. Use the thumb, index finger, and middle finger or the index finger and middle finger to pinch the affected side of the mass or the entire sternocleidomastoid muscle. Rub it gently with two or three fingers for 3 minutes. Hold or pinch the affected side sternocleidomastoid muscle (Qiaogong point) for 3 minutes.

(2) The child should lie on his back or sit with the parent holding him/her. Gently hold and knead the trapezius muscle and other neck-related muscles and the muscles on the healthy side for 3 minutes.

(3) The child lies in the supine position: use the tip of the thumb to massage the sternocleidomastoid muscle from top to bottom 3 to 5 times again; use a gentle grasping method to apply pressure to the affected sternocleidomastoid muscle from top to bottom 3 to 5 times again; use the wrapping or vibration method to apply pressure to the origin, insertion point and lump site of the affected sternocleidomastoid muscle for about one minute; massage the Fengchi, Yifeng, Tianzhu, Jianjing and Quepen points, each for about half a minute.

(4) The child lies in the supine position: Support the temporal side of the child's head with both hands, and simultaneously use both hands to pull along the longitudinal axis of the cervical spine for about 1 to 3 minutes. Perform passive exercises of flexion, extension, left and right lateral flexion, and rotation of the neck, about 3 to 5 times on each side; place one hand on the shoulder of the affected side, and support the head of the affected side with the other hand. Use both hands to exert force in opposite directions and try to pull it towards the healthy side as far as the child can tolerate; each time lasts for 1 to 3 minutes, and repeat 3 to 5 times in a row.
