The fastest way to cool down a child

The fastest way to cool down a child

Many adults are very concerned about the health of children, but the immunity of many children is relatively low compared to adults, so the chance of getting sick is also relatively high. Many children will have a fever for various reasons. When a child has a fever, the whole body may become hot. In this case, it is necessary to take timely cooling measures. So what is the fastest way to cool down a child?

1. Warm water bath

Undress the baby and rub the whole body with warm water (about 37°C) and a towel. This will dilate the blood vessels in the baby's skin and release body energy. In addition, when water vapor evaporates from the body surface, it will also absorb body heat.

2. Drink more water

It helps sweating, urination, and lowering body temperature. In addition, water has the function of regulating temperature, which can lower body temperature and replenish water lost in the body. Do not give your baby cold water, because fever is often accompanied by gastrointestinal symptoms and cough, and drinking cold water will aggravate these accompanying symptoms. Give your baby warm water.

3. Low temperature chamber method

Place the sick child in an environment with a room temperature of about 24 degrees Celsius to slowly lower the body temperature. In order to allow the skin to come into contact with the outside air and help cool down, people need to wear less clothes. If conditions permit, use air conditioning to lower the room temperature. This method is suitable for babies under 1 month old, especially in summer. Just open the baby's clothes and put him in a cool place, his body temperature will slowly drop. If your baby has chills and shivering when having a fever, you should not use the low-temperature chamber method.

4. Cold compress

This method is simple and easy. Apply a cold towel to the forehead, then soak the towel in cold water after it becomes hot and apply it again. Using a cold water bag or ice pack is more effective than applying a cold towel to the forehead.
