White matter health problems have become more and more common in recent years, posing a great threat to people's life safety, because white matter is an important component of the brain and an indispensable substance. White matter disease problems are mainly manifested in softening problems, which will cause damage to the patient's various functions. Let's take a look at the recovery rate of white matter softening and how to treat it. In the early stage of leukomalacia, ultrasound can show enhanced echo of white matter around the ventricles, unclear boundaries, and no space-occupying effect. If you are not aware of this, it is easy to miss the diagnosis. Therefore, during the cranial ultrasound examination, the sections that can display each ventricle need to be observed to see whether the echo of the white matter nearby is homogeneous and whether there is any echo enhancement. As time goes by, fluid cystic areas can be seen inside, which are easier to be found by ultrasound! Neonatal hypoxic-ischemic encephalopathy and craniocerebral injury are common causes. It is common in premature infants, and the reason may be related to the different brain damage mechanisms at different developmental stages. Brain abnormalities in the early and middle stages of pregnancy are mostly developmental malformations, while those in the late stage (last 3 months) are mostly cerebrovascular changes. By the late stage to the end of pregnancy, collateral circulation has been established and the sensitive areas have changed to the cortex, subcortical white matter and basal ganglia. Ischemic and hypoxic brain damage in full-term infants is more common in the above-mentioned areas. Generally, such children are detected in the neonatal period and have a history of intracranial infection, intrauterine infection or birth injury. During cranial ultrasound examination, attention should be paid to whether the white matter echo is homogeneous. The contrast between early lesions and surrounding normal tissues is not very obvious, and it is easy to miss the diagnosis!Leukodystrophy refers to a disease caused by genetic factors that affects the normal myelin growth of the central nervous system. Includes abnormalities in the white matter myelin sheath caused by a variety of genetic diseases. Leukomalacia is a delayed-onset hypoxic organic brain disease. The earlier the treatment, the better the recovery. If treatment is delayed, the lesions will degenerate and harden and there will be no recovery rate. Guidance: Bone marrow transplantation may be considered before symptoms appear to delay or stop the progression of the disease; there is no satisfactory treatment for patients with extensive lesions of the nervous system. |
