White spots on the child's face

Many parents will observe that white patches often appear on their children's skin. White patches are also called leukoplakia, which is a type of pigment loss. The more pigment is lost, the more obvious the white spots in the middle will be. It is not ruled out that it may be caused by rash or physiological and pathological factors. It is necessary to find the cause and treat it in normal times.

Clinical manifestations

The main manifestation is white patches on the skin, which start as a few isolated round or oval patches, pale white or light red, with clear borders. The patches gradually expand and increase in number, and the surface is relatively dry, with a small amount of grayish white scales. Plaques are mostly seen on the face, especially on the cheeks and forehead, and occasionally on the neck, limbs and trunk. Children generally have no subjective symptoms, and some children may experience mild itching. After several months to a year, the patches may disappear on their own, leaving only mild hypopigmented spots.

Identification

It manifests as white patches on the skin, but the patches in the former are whiter, have a smoother surface and no scales; the skin at the edges of the patches often has darker pigmentation. Moreover, the patches often persist and do not disappear spontaneously.

Pityriasis capitis

Dandruff is medically known as "pityriasis capitis" and "seborrheic dermatitis". Its manifestations can be divided into two forms: dry dandruff and oily dandruff. Dry dandruff is mostly loosely distributed on the scalp, and tends to fall off in scales when combing or scratching the hair, and is mostly white or grayish white in color; while oily dandruff mostly sticks to the hair, exists in the form of greasy, light yellow flakes, and is not easy to fall off.

Treatment: Dandruff may just be some leftovers from hairspray or flakes accumulated from shampoo. If this is the case, just take the trouble to comb your hair every day and wash it frequently. Before washing your hair, it is best to apply some oil-based conditioner and then rinse with an acidic shampoo for better results. When the sebaceous glands secrete excessively, it often develops into seborrheic dermatitis. In this case, dandruff will be produced continuously. It can be said that dandruff is a mild symptom of seborrheic dermatitis. From the perspective of modern etiology, excessive dandruff is caused by the abnormal reproduction of a fungus called Pityrosporum. Therefore, once scalp scaling and itching occur, you may wish to use a drug that can remove Pityrosporum, which is expected to effectively prevent the further development of scalp symptoms.

Pityriasis rosea

Pityriasis rosea is a common, self-limited inflammatory disease with characteristic skin lesions. It is a sexually transmitted skin disease that occurs more frequently in spring and autumn and is more common in adolescents. The cause is not yet clear, and there are many hypotheses, including infection (fungus, bacteria, viruses), and allergic reactions. Many scholars and professors have suggested that the disease is most likely caused by a viral infection, but there is no definite evidence yet. When pityriasis rosea first occurs, it often appears as a single, large pink plaque that is oval in shape with slight scaling on the edges, and often occurs on the chest, abdomen, or back. The single larger pink patch has a special nickname called the scout patch. Over the next week or two, more and more spots or patches appear on the body and limbs, possibly spreading to the neck but rarely to the face. These smaller patches are similar in appearance to scout patches but are generally smaller in size. About 40-50% of patients with rash will experience mild itching, which can sometimes become more severe in higher temperature environments.
