How to stop night feeding

How to stop night feeding

Anyone who has taken care of a baby knows that many babies like to drink milk at night. But as the child grows up, this habit remains unchanged. Whenever parents try to wean their children off night feeding, they encounter many problems. So, how can we help our baby stop drinking milk at night more smoothly? In fact, there are many methods and techniques. For example:

1. Ensure the nutrition and intake of complementary food, and feed the baby fully before bedtime

Mothers must ensure that the complementary foods they add to their babies are nutritionally balanced. Appropriate amounts of food that easily fills the stomach, such as rice flour, protein, and starch, can be added to the complementary foods for dinner, thereby prolonging the baby's hunger time and ensuring sleep quality.

2. Don’t rush to feed your baby if he wakes up at night

When the baby wakes up at night, mothers should not feed him. Instead, they can try other ways to coax him to sleep, such as patting, caressing, humming nursery rhymes to let the baby fall asleep on his own, or sending the father to help the baby fall asleep.

3. Hug your baby more

As the baby grows up, he often breastfeeds just to be close to his mother and become dependent on her. Especially for mothers who go to work during the day, babies will be particularly clingy at night, getting close to their mothers, seeking a sense of security, and will fall asleep sweetly knowing that their mothers are by their side. Therefore, mothers who work during the day must hug and kiss their babies more after get off work to satisfy their babies' psychological needs for their mothers.

5. Determination

You must be firm when weaning your baby from night feeding. Don't give in as soon as the baby cries. This will not only fail to wean the baby from night feeding, but will also be detrimental to the baby's physical and mental health. When coaxing a baby, your tone must be gentle, as babies like to hear their mother’s gentle voice.
